We had an incredible long weekend that started last Wednesday at the IHRA Outlaw National Event at Darana Dragway (Dragway 42) in West Salem, OH. Although I didn't come out on top, (got beat by a .009 light by Zac Ross, my Buckeye Stock/Super Stock cohort-in-crime), finishing as runner-up is no small thing :o)
BIG thanks to Daryl Cuttell who is bringing IHRA back as a top-notch sanctioning body! He is a down-to-earth absolute force of nature and is breathing new life into his multiple race tracks AND these events!

"A severe band of storms just rolled through World Wide Technology Raceway, with winds reaching 80 mph. Due to some damage around the facility, trees down, loss of power and cleanup efforts, the Holley NMRA Race for the Rings is done for the day."

80mph winds. No more than a 10-minute warning to get the car put away, the RV awning down, and hundreds of spectators out of the stands. We got stuff put away, the wind was howling & the RV was shaking. Mike opened the door a crack to see if his canopy was holding... and he almost got blown to Kansas... it was scary.
RIP Dozens of Tents... frames piled up everywhere Sunday! The Jegs canopy is in orbit somewhere and a new pair of sunglasses were sucked out of the RV while Mike was holding onto the RV door and I was holding onto Mike :0)

Changing tires before the next run. Representing The Kathy Chiero Group, Medallion Refinishing Sustems, Performance Paint and Bruce Parsons here at World Wide Technologies Raceway this weekend. It poured buckets between 10pm-5am so it was a slow start today. Waiting for 2nd qualifying run.

Day #3 at US 131 Dragway in Michigan. Probably 600 cars… we’re parked at the far end of the track. There are some gorgeous cars here… and I like the old, rusty ones :0)

So far this season, DiggersDemon.com/Mike Ours has run at Rockingham NC, Madison IL, National Trails/ Kirkersville OH and Quaker City/Salem OH. Old friend of 60-ish years Robert Pierce and wife Tina met us at the track in Salem. Great fun catching up. Next stop is Dragway 42 the weekend of the 30th... who's gonna be there? Mike is also working races for NHRA again this year. YIKES! Crazy schedule!
