Ryan here. The 98-1999 season was my 2nd year of snowmobiling. I didn’t think anything of it at the time. The internet was operating at that time but mainly just for emails as there was no YouTube, Facebook or daily news on the internet. There really wasn’t any talk of it except a little blurb on the local news at the end of the season that nobody paid attention to because everyone was anticipating summer. It didn’t seem odd to us that every single time we went snowmobiling it was over the handlebars because we didn’t know any different. Records are meant to be broken and hopefully this one will be broken again as well.

Mt. Baker Ski Area holds the world record for most snowfall in a single season, recording a staggering 1,140 inches (95 feet) during the winter of 1998-1999, a record that still stands and was officially verified by NOAA.

What a tough snowmobile season! Before it even got started we have heard of access roads being washed out to Anderson Watson, Glacier Creek, Crystal Springs, and Geeenwater and there are probably others. On one hand this solves our lack grooming funds issue, but on the other hand there’s gonna be a lot of truck miles put on if we want to ride. Pretty sure it will all work out, but at the moment it’s a bit depressing.

Huge thanks to Stoked Mountain Adventures for having the parts we needed and loaning us a couple of tools to get back up on the mountain! Highly recommend!

Throwback to a few years ago. If you're cold, they're cold. Bring 'em inside.
