The exhibit ART AND PROTEST -Images of Peace, Struggle and Human Rights is a collection of Color and Black and White photography which depicts Civil and Human Rights as well as images of Civil Disobedience in America from the 1960's to the Present. ART & PROTEST - "Images of Peace, Struggle and Human Rights", is a collection of historical images detailing the Social and Civil movements in America
through the lens of the camera. A starting point from the 1960's, this exhibit with bring together a number of Professional and critically acclaimed photographers with a collective experience of over 400 years, to tell a story of the "Peace" in the hearts of mankind, the "Struggle" to maintaining that peace and the connection that all Peoples share in the pursuit of equality; "Human Rights". Bold and poignant, this collection captures the spirit of a People and demands the attention of those willing to understand what it is to champion in the face of adversity, ignorance and the loss of social consciousness as the World evolves focused more on capital and political gain at the expense of Humanity. This exhibit will look at how photographers over the years played witness to some of the most poignant periods in American history and focuses on the sacrifices, emotions, the leaders and actions that defend civil and human rights. The starting point being New York City, some of the collected photographers capture decades of images with intense passion while others recorded their personal journey as part of the important rallies, marches and sometimes violent actions for justice. ART & PROTEST has taken notable moments of activism in Harlem, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Washington DC and as far as Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Middle East and connected the lines to one single truth, that "We are all connected." This exhibit will examine the history of Civil and Human Rights in America showing the enduring talents of three generations of Black and Latin photographers as they captured images of the Vietnam and Anti-War Movements, Civil Rights and the Black National Movements, The Million Man Woman and Youth Marches of the 1990's, Occupy Wall Street, Stop&Frisk, Cuban Revolution, Union Strikes, Womens Equality, Affordable Housing, Immigration Rights, Police Brutality, Middle East/African Spring Movements, Boycotts, Free Africa Movement and more.
