I had somebody ask me "Whats the point of Cruising?!"
My first answer was "Go watch American Graffiti and you will understand.."
But then I thought about it for awhile and I said "in realistic terms, there is no point.. it is a waste of EXPENSIVE gas, you dont end up anywhere except the same place over and over and over again, and you dont get to chat with your other buddies if you're out driving around. BUT, there is a something about cruising around (hopefully we can draw community folks to sit along side the road and watch us cruise around) letting the community see and hear our rides in motion, just like a parade, and getting behind the wheel of the amazing rides we are all lucky to own and cruising along one another. And its not racing.. its not being crazy over the top. Its just enjoying our rides. I know each and every one of you understand what im talking about. And if you dont have what you feel like is a "cool cruising vehicle", heck find someone who does.. its always more fun cruising with friends along for the ride.
Why I picked the route i did? (Thats another question i got)
So, all of us who grew up here in Mtn Home back in the day, we all know the cruise route was from Pizza Hut to the Square, or Pizza Hut to Hardee's.. we did try that once a year or two ago and it didn't really go as planned. Plus, I think we have all driven in this town recently enough to know that the middle of town can get quite ridiculous most of the time nowadays. So I picked College St/bypass/west side of 62 for a few reasons. College St, to me, just has a cool vintage vibe..plus, it was one of Mtn Homes first roads. Plus, there is less traffic for sure. Also plenty of room for the community to sit and watch us cruise on by. I envision kids with their families watching all the cool rides drive on by and just fall in love with the automotive beauty of all of our rides. We can all agree that the passion for the classic and muscle cars is dying..so we need to do what we can to stir that pot back up so youngsters find the love for them!! Anyway, College St is vintage, slower paced, and mellow.. then, we turn right onto the Bypass and thats when things could pick up speed for a bit :) then we turn right onto hwy 62 and head past Bomber Blvd, the Sheriff Station, and get to the Square.. we will drive through the square so the people who are trying to enjoy a peaceful evening at Rapps will be treated to a beautiful group of cruising vehicles :) and then will turn right onto 62 again and get to College St and turn right to start all over again.
I think this event will be fun!! Take a friend with you!! Stop at Dairy Queen for some Ice Cream, sit at Farm and Merchants ATM Bank Parking lot when you get tired of Cruising (but I hope the cruising lasts awhile)
