Employee Spotlight: Jacob Mayfield

Meet Jacob Mayfield, Plasma Table and Press Brake Operator at NXG Truck Bodies.

Jacob has been with NXG for one year, and brings nearly a decade of automotive and manufacturing experience to the team. With much of his life spent around manufacturing and automotive work, joining NXG was an opportunity to continue broadening his knowledge and putting his skills to work in a new way.

In his role, Jacob plays a key part in the foundation of every truck body we build. From operating the plasma table to cut parts with precision, to using the press brake to bend materials for a clean, consistent fit, his work helps supply our weld lines with accurate parts in a timely manner.

His favorite part of the job is watching a flat piece of steel go from raw material to a cut, bent, and assembled truck body, all while working alongside a skilled and dedicated team.

What excites him most about the future of NXG is the continued growth of the company and the commitment to excellence in customer service.

Outside of work, Jacob is a beginner leather crafter in his spare time.

Thank you, Jacob, for the precision, experience, and craftsmanship you bring to the NXG team.

Soft-open gas struts are more than a convenience.

By controlling how the toolbox door opens, they help prevent the door from slamming open or being forced open too aggressively. That smoother motion helps reduce fatigue on hinges, weld points, and the strut mounting locations, helping the door hold up longer in the field.
They also make a difference in windy conditions, helping keep the door from catching wind and flying open.
From standard adjustable shelving to miter-cut weatherstripping and T-handle compression latches, NXG toolboxes are built around the details that matter.

What does quality look like at NXG?

It looks like measuring, verifying, and constantly improving.

As part of our XCoat powder coating process, IFS Coatings regularly visits our facility to review and verify coating consistency across our truck bodies. Using specialized equipment, they measure coating thickness at approximately 80 different points to ensure we are maintaining the standards we've established for durability, appearance, and long-term performance.

These inspections do more than verify results. They help identify opportunities for improvement. If a process, spray pattern, or piece of equipment begins affecting consistency, we can address it quickly through training, maintenance, and process refinement.

From our 5-stage wash to our 2-stage powder coat process with infrared curing, every step is designed to produce a finish that meets the expectations of hardworking customers who depend on their truck body every day.

All of it happens inside our purpose-built powder coating facility, where quality is monitored, measured, and continuously improved.

We don't settle for the industry standard.

We work every day to rise above it.

Employee Spotlight: Ramiro Gonzalez

At NXG Truck Bodies, quality doesn't happen by accident. It happens because of dedicated team members like Ramiro Gonzalez who take pride in making sure every truck body meets our standards before it leaves the facility.

Ramiro has been part of the NXG team for a little over a year and plays a critical role in the final stages of production. His primary responsibilities include pre-stacking truck bodies before they are loaded onto trailers and conducting final inspections to ensure each body is ready for delivery. Ramiro helps ensure that every truck body leaving NXG reflects the quality our customers expect.

When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Ramiro says it's the opportunity to grow and learn alongside the company. He also values the relationships he's built with his coworkers and enjoys helping others succeed in their responsibilities.

One of Ramiro's greatest strengths is his ability to solve problems, adapt to changing situations, and communicate effectively with his team. These skills help keep production moving while maintaining the high standards that define NXG Truck Bodies.

Thank you, Ramiro, for your dedication and for helping ensure every NXG truck body is built to the standard our customers deserve.

Downtime costs money. That’s why NXG is continuing to invest in the parts, space, and systems that keep customers moving. New warehouse racking is going up to help us store more inventory, improve organization, and keep the right parts ready when they’re needed.
More space. More parts.
