Yearly maintenance on your riding lawn mower is essential to keep it running smoothly, extend its lifespan, and ensure your lawn stays perfectly manicured throughout the mowing season. Much like a car, your riding mower requires regular attention to its engine, blades, and other critical components to perform at its best. Here’s a detailed guide to help you carry out yearly maintenance and keep your mower in top shape.

Start with the engine.

Change the oil and replace the oil filter, if your mower has one. Fresh oil lubricates the engine’s moving parts, preventing wear and overheating. Before changing the oil, warm up the engine for a few minutes to help the oil drain out smoothly. After draining the old oil, refill with the type and amount recommended in your mower’s owner’s manual.

Next, replace the air filter.

A clean air filter ensures the engine gets enough air for combustion, which improves fuel efficiency and power. If the air filter is clogged with dirt and debris, it can cause the engine to run roughly or stall. Foam filters can be washed and reused, while paper filters typically need replacement. Check the spark plugs. Inspect them for wear or buildup and replace if necessary. Spark plugs play a crucial role in igniting the fuel-air mixture in the engine, and worn plugs can cause hard starts or poor performance.

Fuel system maintenance is also important. Drain any old fuel from the tank and carburetor, especially if the mower was stored with fuel in it. Old gasoline can become stale and clog the carburetor jets, leading to poor engine performance. Consider adding a fuel stabilizer to fresh fuel during the storage period to keep it fresh.

Sharpening or replacing the mower blades is another vital task. Sharp blades cut grass cleanly, resulting in a healthier lawn and a better appearance. Dull blades tear the grass, making it more susceptible to disease. Remove the blades carefully

All of these tasks can be performed at TFK Repairs. Sometimes keeping up with maintenance on your riding mower is a little daunting, but at TFK Repairs we can get you running right and staying running. Contact us today to get your mower it's yearly servicing.

I am probably the worst at updating goings around in the shop. Updates to come soon as well as some projects that may or may not be videoed.....just for fun.

A little before and after. Mower had a rusted deck, patched it up best I could and got the drive working on it again. A little touch up paint here and there and BAM! a good working mower.

So this just kind of magically appeared yesterday..... My wife saw someone towing it behind a vehicle and they pushed it into the yard. Not 100% sure why it's here but I haven't received any messages about it. If you drop this off please let me know why.

On a side note, this thing is torn up..... Every time I looked at it I saw something else broken. It needs wiring, air filter, air filter cover, coil wire, battery, seat, hood and most likely the fuel drained out of it because I'm sure it's bad. And that is just from what I can see I haven't actually dug into it yet. Oh and like most mowers it needs tires..... Definitely at least one that's completely off the rim.

Again, If you were the one that dropped this off please contact me at 910-357-8464. Thank you.

The shop is a little busy right now with multiple projects, I'll still be able to take in more, just the wait time might be a little longer than normal sadly.

This beauty just left the shop yesterday. Had some loud horns installed on it, with a custom bracket to hide it in the bumper. Also had to diagnose an ABS and brake light, install LED headlights, new door strikers, repair a window regulator and fix the temperature control module. All in all it was interesting to work on. This truck will be coming back for some valence lights in the future.

It is unclear what happened but I believe my profile for TFK Repairs Repairs on Google was reported as closed or not at the address listed. For those that do not know TFK Repairs is run out of the shop behind my house, so yes on Google maps you will see a house, but at the end of that driveway there is a shop. I have gone through the verification process to get my business profile back up and running so hopefully it will not affect anyone trying to look up my repair business. If you happen to be driving by and did not see the sign for the business and you reported it, that was due to a wind storm that we had that took down my sign and I had to put it back up. I will be getting a bigger sign to put out near the road to alert customers as to where the business is located soon. I do apologize for any confusion this may have caused and if you do still need service and you thought the business was not here please give me a call at 910-357-8464. I will be happy to assist you with any problem or project you have.
