He Hated These Fender Flares—Our Budget Nissan Frontier Fix

These beat-up fender flares didn’t fit properly—and the owner of this 2014 Nissan Frontier absolutely hated them.

The problem? Removing the flares would leave a row of exposed mounting holes. Repairing everything conventionally would require welding, bodywork and repainting the front fenders, bedsides and bumper.

That would be the right approach for a full restoration or show-quality build, but this is a work truck. The owner wanted a clean, practical solution without investing thousands of dollars.

We removed the unwanted flares and used 1/2-inch carbon-fiber-style body-side molding from our friends at Cowles Products to conceal the holes. We then color-matched the molding so it would blend into the truck rather than stand out.

Is it a concours restoration repair? No—and we explain that honestly. It is a creative, budget-friendly appearance solution that helped this owner improve his truck without breaking the bank.
