With four races in, this season has already been extremely interesting.

I’ve driven three different cars, worked through new-car issues, and after our last race at Mt. Pleasant, I’m starting to feel a lot more confident in our racing program.

Things for C&S Racing have changed drastically. I no longer have my dad’s advice in the pits, and I know without a doubt he would have loved figuring out all the ways to set up this new car. The littles and my amazing mother have been in the pits every single race, and I’m learning how to balance having everyone there with us. Thankfully, the new trailer and the special snack door have made the transition a little easier. šŸ˜‚

All the new faces in our pits make me happy, because they’re there for one thing: me.

Without Dad in the pits, Shiela has been trying to soak up as much knowledge as she can from me. Dad always did his best to explain things to her, and although I’m not always the greatest teacher, showing her new things has me excited. Seeing her want to learn when and why I make changes is like a breath of fresh air. I know I’m truly spoiled to have a wife who is all in. Not to mention, she has been killing it

Lilly has only missed one race, but she’ll be back at it this weekend. She is my tire girl, always involved with air pressures and changes throughout the night.

And my mom — you have to love the devotion she has to racing. She has been around the tracks throughout both Dad’s and my racing ā€œcareers,ā€ and I’m glad she gets to experience the things she missed while watching the littles in the stands these past few years. We like to think she is there watching it all, and Dad is watching through her eyes now.

Like I said, it has been an interesting start. But with all this support behind me, I truly feel like I’m going to get my mojo back and start turning some of the best laps of my life.

Now we’re on to our next race at Silver Bullet Speedway — a track that has stuck with me through the ups and downs these past few years and been such an amazing sponsor to the 40c.

Going into this race, I hope to carry the confidence that’s been building inside me, put on our best showing of the year for our amazing sponsors, friends, family, and supporters, and most importantly, have more fun than I ever could have imagined five years ago.

On to Silver Bullet Speedway.

Today's recap brought to you by Mrs. 40c:

Before I even talk about racing, I need to talk about something that mattered so much more than where we finished on the track last night.

To every driver, team, and person who donated to Hudson’s Alzheimer’s Association fundraiser, thank you. Truly. Watching people rally behind our son and support something he cares so deeply about has been emotional in ways I can’t even explain.

Hudson is on a mission to raise $5,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association, and if you know him, you know once he sets his heart on something, he gives it everything he has. He’s constantly brainstorming new ways to raise money and awareness. Last night, he walked through the pits carrying NASCAR trading cards, offering them for donations with the biggest smile on his face. And somehow, through the kindness of this racing community, he raised $230 in one night.

He was so proud. Not proud for himself but proud that he was helping people. Proud that people believed in what he was trying to do. As a mom, watching your child care so deeply about others is one of those moments that hits you right in the heart. We’ll have the full collection of cards with us at Silver Bullet on Saturday, so stop by the trailer and see him.

As for the racing side of the night… it wasn’t the night Chad hoped for on paper. We qualified 12th, started and finished last in the heat race, and finished 12th in the feature.

But sometimes race nights are about so much more than results.

There was a season that stole something from Chad. It stole confidence. It stole excitement. And if I’m being honest, losing his dad changed racing for all of us. The track used to feel different. There are pieces of him missing everywhere we look: in the pits, walking the track, sitting on the trailer, standing beside the car giving advice. There are moments that still feel painfully empty.

And what Chad probably doesn’t fully realize is how hard it can be to stand there and watch the person you love most strap into a race car when you know the risks… while also knowing they’re battling fear and anxiety every time they pull onto the track.

But last night something changed.

I saw glimpses of him coming back.

Every single time he pulled onto the track, there was a little more confidence. A little more comfort. A little more excitement. And for the first time in a while, I saw flashes of the passion that made him fall in love with this sport in the first place.

People see race cars and results. What they don’t always see is the healing that sometimes happens underneath the helmet. The courage it takes to keep showing up after your confidence has been broken. The strength it takes to continue doing something you love after grief changes the way it feels.

Racing has given our family some of the hardest moments… but it has also given us some of the most meaningful people and memories we could ever ask for. The friendships. The support. The feeling of belonging. It all matters more than I could ever put into words.

Chad Colley I will stand beside you through every bad night, every setback, every tear, every win, and every lesson because seeing you smile when you climb out of that car and pull off your helmet makes every difficult moment worth it.

And last night… that smile meant everything.

Crystal Motor Speedway - Crystal, MI always does an incredible job and it's always a good time. Last night's goal was strictly to have fun and a car that's running! We brought out old Black Betty while we continue repairs on the Hyper and she drove just like knew she would šŸ–¤

Currently sitting at #9 in points with a goal for the season of top 5. We have some work to do but that's just what we are going to do!

As always, thanks to our sponsors:

A huge thank you to Mike Pipgras. I spent the morning over at his place fixing the issues with our new car. Sure looks like the 40c will be ready to make its debut this weekend at Crystal Motor Speedway - Crystal, MI ! Still crossing our fingers. But, things are definitely looking a whole lot better than they were earlier this week
