I would like to share words about an article I came across about a "Silent War Between Auto Body Shops and Insurance Companies"

You get into a fender bender.
You file a claim.
The insurance company says, "We'll take care of it."

But behind the scenes, a quiet battle is unfolding - a power struggle between two forces that should be working together:

And you're caught in the middle.

On paper, both sides want the same thing:
1. Fix your car
2. Get you back on the road
3. Minimize our stress

In reality? They disagree - A LOT - on how that should happen.

There is a fight over repair costs! Insurance companies are in the business of controlling payouts. Auto body shops are in the business of restoring cars correctly - not just cheaply!!
This leads to clashes like:
1. Labor rate caps: Insurers set low hourly limits, which don't reflect current skilled labor rates.
2. Refusal to cover OEM parts: Shops recommend original parts; insurers push cheaper, aftermarket ones.
3. Blend vs. Respray debates: Shops want to match paint perfectly; insurers want the fastest, cheapest option.
A technician might recommend a 4-hour alignment. The insurer might only approve 2.
SO WHO SUFFERS? YOU DO.

DRP stands for Direct Repair Program. It is a network of shops that have agreements with insurers.
It is supposed to be designed for Faster approvals, Pre-negotiated labor rates and less paperwork.
THE DRAWBACKS ARE:
SHOPS ARE UNDER PRESSURE TO CUT CORNERS
LOYALTY IS OFTEN TO THE INSURER - NOT TO YOU

HERE IS THE SECRET MOST CUSTOMERS NEVER HEAR:

"YOU HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO CHOOSE ANY LICENSED BODY SHOP YOU WANT"
But many insurance companies steer you - aggressively - toward their DRP partners.
They make comments like:
* "That other shop isn't approved."
* " It might take longer."
* "We can't guarantee the work if you go there."
YOU ARE NOT CHOOSING A BETTER REPAIR. YOU ARE CHOOSING ONE THAT SAVES THEM MONEY!

SO KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
You can always choose your own repair shop - even if your insurer recommends otherwise.

THIS IS A WAR BETWEEN THE INDEPENDENT SHOPS AND THE INSURANCE COMPANIES!!
This "war" isn't just about money. It's about who gets to decide what's best for your car -

THE SHOP, OR YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY

SO THE NEXT TIME YOUR CAR IS IN THE SHOP OR MAY HAVE TO GO TO THE SHOP BECAUS OF AN UNEXPECTED ACCIDENT

Black male lab with green collar showed up today at our shop. We do not know who's he is there is no tag. He is obviously an older dog who hasn't been astray for long. If this is your dog or you may know who he belongs to please let us know. We hate for him to keep running around and we cannot take him in.
