- Update on the Chevette -
We were able to get it out to the track Labor Day weekend! The car shined up so good with a little bit of elbow grease!
Everything was looking good before we put it in the box but after Jaron made 2 passes the oil pressure was real low for our liking. Weāre guessing the break in process wasnāt fully done on the motor causing the low oil pressure. Hard to tell on a flat tappet motor but that process is crucial to make sure everything will run right, but unfortunately we found out the hard way.
Weāre also thinking the transmission needs a good go through. The car felt sluggish on the launch and when shifting into high gear.
On the bright side the car looked good, sounded great, and went straight as an arrow down the track! We got it mostly right haha! Canāt ask for too much, we knew going into it that the car was a fresh build and had never made a real pass down the strip until we made it happen!
The plan this winter is to give the drivetrain the Harthun special šŖš On paper this little car should be much faster! Weāll go through it all this winter and make some needed upgrades to ensure itāll be ready for next season! Canāt wait to see it running how it should be!
