Been working hard this week. Tore down the engine in this 2019 Silverado LD 5.3 L83. It had a cylinder 6 misfire due to a AFM lifter failure. Customer requested a full delete of the AFM system. Replacing the camshaft with a non AFM BTR stock replacement cam, Delphi LS7 lifters with correct length pushrods. Cylinder heads were also reconditioned with a nice valve job, new seals and a resurface.

Shoutout to Robinson’s Rod Shop for a job well done on this Chevy 1.4 Turbo cylinder head. Vehicle had a blown head gasket, had the head cleaned, resurfaced and a new valve job done on it. Ready for reassembly.

This is the standard to which all engine work is done when it leaves my shop. Nothing less than the best!

Diagnosed a misfire on a Gen 3 LS 6.0 LQ4 today. Not the first broken valve spring I’ve found on one of these engines over the last few years. Due to this, any LS engine that comes through my shop for cylinder head work or head gaskets automatically gets a spring upgrade/replacement to ensure a long life and better experience for the customer. The valve did not drop on this one, so I will be replacing all 16 springs with the heads on the engine, saving the customer some money and getting the truck back on the road.

This Silverado with a Gen 4 LS 5.3 was referred to me by another shop with a cylinder 6 misfire concern. I verified the concern and some quick testing showed a valve-train failure. Assumed to be a failed AFM lifter. Removed cylinder heads and verified a failed lifter. This engine will be getting some new parts and will have the cylinder heads reconditioned with a 3 angle valve job and new valve springs.

These extended warranties stop at nothing. They couldn’t reach me by phone so they sent a damn carrier pigeon 🤦‍♂️
