Refining my BMW DME ecu bench and boot reading, writing and flashing skills. Upgrading your BMW’s performance often requires advanced skills such as soldering on circuit boards and chipsets like these. The difference between “good” performance tunes and “excellent” performance tunes often comes down to loading the maps on the “Bench” or sometimes circuit board “boot” level. Todd Presser from PresserTronics and Greg from Epic Automotive Service have been working on some pretty interesting projects…stay tuned!

This engine shows sludge build up from going extended times between oil changes or using cheap quality oil. The black sludge looks like tar build up all inside the motor. Remember to change your oil. We recommend every 5-6k miles or at least once a year. We are seeing more and more vehicles needing engines from extended oil changes and the quick l**e places. European vehicles require European grade oil. Make sure the oil they use is approved by your vehicle’s manufacturer and not just “it’s the same.” Oils are not the same. We have letters from the manufacturers approving the oils we use. They guarantee their product.

Cloning a spare engine control unit for a customer who’s control unit failed. Many automakers no longer have control units for vehicles 8 years or older, leaving many owners with few options when electrical features such as no window or door lock operation to no start situation and trans electrical failure. Epic is investing in training, equipment and other technologies to offer electrical control unit repairs and replacement, as well as, advanced coding and programming alternatives.
