One question I hear all the time is, “Why are ceramic coating prices all over the place?”

The short answer is that every vehicle is different.

A newer vehicle may only need a light polish before it’s ready for a coating. An older one that’s picked up swirl marks, water spots, oxidation, and other wear usually takes more time to get the paint back where it needs to be.

What’s included also makes a big difference.

Some ceramic coating packages only cover the paint. Others include the trim, headlights, wheel faces, glass, and other exterior surfaces. That’s why it’s worth looking beyond the price and seeing exactly what each package includes.

The biggest difference, though, is the preparation.

Before any coating goes on, the vehicle should be thoroughly washed, decontaminated, and polished. That gives the coating the clean, properly prepared surface it needs to bond well, last as long as it’s designed to, and leave the paint looking its best.

The coating is the final step. Most of the work happens before the bottle is ever opened.

So if you’re comparing ceramic coating quotes, don’t just ask what coating is being used. Ask about the preparation, too. That’s where the real difference is. 👌

Regular cleaning removes the oils, sweat, and grime that slowly break down the leather, helping it look better and last longer.

This 2014 Porsche Boxster is about to get the attention it deserves. 👌

“It’s just a little tree sap.” 🌳

We hear it all the time.

The problem is, tree sap doesn’t just make your car dirty. If it’s left on the paint, especially during a hot Georgia summer, it can actually damage your clear coat.

As the sap sits in the sun, it hardens. The natural resins and acids begin to etch into the paint, and the longer it stays there, the worse it can get.

Eventually the sap may wash away, but the damage doesn’t.

The white spots in these photos aren’t leftover sap. They’re permanent etching in the clear coat. At this stage, there’s usually nothing a detailer can safely polish out. In many cases, repainting is the only permanent fix.

The good news is this is one of the easiest problems to prevent.

If you notice fresh sap, remove it as soon as possible. Don’t wait until your next wash. Keeping your vehicle protected with a quality sealant or ceramic coating also gives you more time before sap has a chance to bond to the paint, making cleanup much easier.

Sometimes the smallest spots end up being the most expensive.
