Long awaited Waterfollies update for the E-62 Raining Thunder Racing.

Friday: The E350 class only hit the water once due to time constraints. Large amount of milfoil on the race course and dragging the bouyees out of place. Still learning our setup, we went out and battled for a good starting position. Ended up 5th out of a 6 boat field.

Saturday: We had a much better day to start. The first heat, we put the boat on the outside lane for the start. Turn #1 was rough and we learned our lesson from Friday putting boat into the bad water. We were able to hold off the field and finished in 3rd. Second heat, the wind came up significantly and it was rough when we went out. We kept with our strategy with starting out in the cleaner water on the outside. Made it to our second lap and in Turn #1 the boat hit a good size hole and I felt & heard a loud vibration and shut it down immediately. After putting the boat back on the trailer, we found the the Camshaft snapped along with a rod in the bottom end punched a hole in the oil pan. So....down one engine. Luckily, John Bosserman brought a back up engine and we quickly got to work swapping engines.

Sunday: We missed running in our first heat today while we finished up our engine swap. The engine just was fired off and timed. We will be all go for the winner take all final later today! Great work by our entire crew getting us back on the water.

The E-62 Raining Thunder Racing llc will be racing this weekend in the E350 class at the 2026 H1 Unlimited Waterfollies race in Tri-cities, WA.

It will be 3 days of Fun, Sun and deck-to-deck Racing this weekend in HydroTown USA! Come down and say hello to the gang and stay for the Hydros, Airshow and the people.

Black Lake Regatta update:

We ran the Y-24 Sweet Lemon Racing 1 liter modified and the E-62 Raining Thunder Racing E350 boats. This was the outcome we were working towards for both biats that weekend.

We had great success running both boats. We are starting to nail down the issues we've had building the Chevrolet 350 engine on the E350. The learning curve is getting smaller with the 1 liter power valve motor as we are understanding what we need to do with every race.

We ended finishing 2nd place overall in the E-62 Raining Thunder and 3rd place out of a large and fast group of 1 liters. Overall,a great weekend filled with fun and family.

Next stop is the H1 Unlimited race in Tri-cities for Waterfollies with the E-62 Raining Thunder. Next race for the Sweet Lemon Racing Y-24 is Pateros, WA and Western Divisionals.

Worked with SWX out of Tri-cities on a driver's safety equipment story that will air this thursday leading into Waterfollies hydroplane race.

Was fun to dress up Brittney Steele in our safety gear and let her experience what hydroplane driver's wear to help keep us safe (she got the full meal deal outside the 100 degree temperatures).

Day 2 Celina, OH:

After having Mr. Jim Sechler help us go through this new power valve engine and work through what could be causing this engine to bog down, we swapped the carbs from spare engine and engine sounded better.

We went out for heat one and the boat definitely got up on plane faster but still wouldn't get up to race speeds. So, after some debate, we swapped props and gears in gear box for the final heat.

After making those changes, we went out for the final heat and boat was running at more RPM's but seemed to bog down when full throttle was given. We made 2 more laps during the warm up period coming down to the 1-minute mark and tried giving it full throttle again and she took off!

While waiting to go out for our final heat on Sunday, I spotted something floating in the water behind the boat. Floating was an empty bottle of Fireball Whiskey which was one of Brad's favorite....a sign. Of course that bottle was fished out for good luck and a sign Brad was watching.

We made the start and started to case down the other boats as it was pretty rough in the final. We ended our first full heat of the weekend with a 2nd place finish in the final after learning Corey jumped the gun.

We learned a few things during this East coast swing with this new power valve engine. Now, we head back home and start our Region 10 run. Next up Richland Regatta.

The 2026 Richland Regatta will be the 1st race in Region 10 (Washington State) this year. I invite everyone to come down for 2 days of the best racing on the Columbia River outside of the H1 Waterfollies event just down the river later this summer.

This event is by far the best place to watch a hydroplane race! Howard Amon Park has a long boardwalk with unobstructed views of the race course with plenty of shade, food vendors and a family friendly environment.

It will be a mad dash from Celina, OH to Richland, WA as the races are back-to-back weekends. It's going to get wild and we can't wait to kick off racing in the Pacific Northwest in 2 weeks. See you there.

Late Update....Day 2 Decatur, IL race:

The team still struggled working out the kinks and learning the new power valve engine.

We made it to the water for both heats in Sunday and progressively got better. However, we were towed back in each time as the bist struggled to get up on plane.

We later found out one of the power valves got into the cylinder and we were down on compression. Overall, not the outing we were planning on for our first race of the season but we learned.

Our engine will be looked over by the best in our class before our next stop in Celina, OH for the APBA Eastern Divisionals.

Race director Sean Bowsher and Nikki Harnack created and honored our Late friend and driver Brad Sanchez with a class award on Sunday for highest 1 liter points Overall for weekend, which was won by J Michael Kelley. Brad's brother, Todd Sanchez and mother Diana Lord were onhand for the event. JMK, handed the award off to Brad's mom in a touching moment none will soon forget.

Later, after the race concluded, Team Sweet Lemon, along with the Sanchez family, Marissa Bartels and Harnack family and Sean Bowsher, committed a flower wreath in Brads honor to the waters of Lake Decatur. Race in my friend!
