Pro tip
If you like having little scratches in your paint, then skip this. Otherwise hear me out.
Here's just a couple of things that WILL jack up your cars paint...fast!
1) Carwashes...
They literally pick up the contaminants from the vehicle in front of you and smash them into your vehicle's paint at a high rate of speed while using nylon brushes. This leaves heavy micro scratches which requires paint correction to remove.
2) California feather dusters
They take dust (which is dirt, which is micro sized rocks and other garbage) and drag it across your vehicles paint. This leaves minor micro scratches which requires paint correction to remove.
3) Car covers
Yep, the thing that's designed to protect your cars paint WILL indeed scratch it
The only way to not scratch your vehicle with a cover, is to not use one. However, if you must, make sure the surface is clean before putting on the cover, make sure the inside of the cover is clean and free of dust or dirt, and \ or cover your clean car first with a fleece blanket, then put on the cover..the blanket will act as a shield to prevent micro drag scratches.
4) Contaminated wash Mits (for the do it yourself wash people. )
Make sure anything, including drying towels, are clean and free of any dirt or debris. You'd be amazed at what those Mits can pick up. Wash in a back n forth pattern, starting at the very top of the vehicle first, then work your way down, washing the bottom section last. Since the bottom gets the most dirty, doing it last will help prevent spreading contaminants around.
