"Seeking Help to Solve a Cold Case in Louisville Kentucky"

My uncle, Donald D. Bailey McCubbins, was found deceased in a field in Louisville, Kentucky, Jefferson County, off Lees Lane in December 1976. He was 19 years old at the time and home on Christmas break from serving in the army at Fort Knox. His car, a light blue Volkswagen Beetle, was found at a separate location.

He was last seen visiting a friend in the Dreamland Neighborhood on Lees Lane in Louisville, Kentucky. I'm reaching out to anyone who may have information about my uncle's case, including friends who knew him, witnesses who may have seen something, or anyone who has information that could be helpful. I was told his murder is still discussed in the area. The soldier who was murdered from Fort Knox, Ky.

This case has been cold for over 45 years, and I'm determined to find out more information about what happened to my uncle. I've started a page to share information and gather support. If you have any information, no matter how small it may seem, please contact me.

Notably, my uncle had a twin brother, Ronnie Bailey McCubbins, and I'm unsure of anything pertaining to him. My family was small but very close except for him, he was always distant and we never had a relationship or kept in contact.

I don't even know what he knows about the case, kind of odd to me, it's your twin brother!! I'd still be fighting to this day unless.....

ANONYMOUS TIP: Hello my name is *****, my dad is Dennis S Saling. First off I want to say I'm sorry about your loss. I'm sitting here with my dad he has no contact with those two guys one is dead the other lives out of state last he heard. My dad told me the story... he told me also took a polygraph test. He was married at that time and was home with his wife. I hope you get justice.

REPLIES: Omg wow I just got cold chills!? Was your dad friends with my uncle? Did he know him? Does he happen to know the girl who falsely accused him? And if he definitely was cleared because I’m learning all the stuff first hand as well I was four years old when he was killed. I wish I could hear the story from him my own self because I only know bits and pieces.Does he know why my uncle was over there on Lees Lane? Because we lived in Shively Cloverleaf subdivision. Man I have so many questions... cold chills!
Thank you for reaching out to me and being kind about it as well and sympathetic... I do appreciate that. I would like to leave my phone number with you and maybe when your dad has time or would do me a huge favor by calling me one day soon when he’s.ready or able and telling me about it. It would mean a great deal to me! Melyssa Fox (502) 500-****

ANONYMOUS TIP: So when he woke up this morning I was viewing your fb page and came across his name so I started asking questions. He said he didn't know your uncle never met him. He stated they said he was last seen on Dixie in front of now Craig and landerth auto sales it was a diff name then. His thoughts were he was trying to steal a car and and got caught and they beat him but again he doesn't know for sure that's what he guessed. Also he stated his body was found at the end of the street you were on at the dead end over the flood wall it used to be dirt trails. They girls name was Linda Newton. He said he was friends with the colptons since they was young kids. He was at home when all this happened with his wife. He said he stayed over a week in jail took a polygraph and they towed his car is for finger prints and mud but nothin g was found.

REPLIES: Wow for some reason I’ve had stories told to me and you know how speculation and rumors arme but about a ring of guys that would kidnap young girls juveniles off the streets of Louisville and take them to a farm in Indiana and would r**e and kidnap them so I didn’t know what I may be trying to uncover here or what truly happened. My uncle was a private in the military and was on leave for Christmas break when he was murdered. His Volkswagen was found over there on Lee’s lane as well.

He thinks that who beat him for thinking he was trying to steal a car? The people from Craig and Landreth?

Ask your dad does the last name ***** ring any type of bell or the man that owned the Texaco back then? For some reason I was told that they may be involved in some type away. Hell I don’t know like I said I’m grasping at straws‘s my mom and grandma were told to leave it alone so it was hush-hush all my life and they all passed away now. I definitely don’t want to put your dad through any more accusations or anything like that because if he was proven to be cleared of it I’m so thankful and I’m sorry that he had to endure that as well. I’m just desperate for any lead, resource, path I don’t care what it is because I feel like it’s left on my shoulders to try to bring this person to answer for this horrendous crime. I’m the last living relative from my family that has been attached since childhood and knows the pain that was left from the loss of my uncle. He was only 19 years old.
So did he know the girl that falsely accused him?? And why did she say that?

ANONYMOUS TIP: He did know the girl his words was she slept with all the boys around the neighborhood. She had came in late and her mom and dad were mad and she got a beating from her dad. So she made up a story saying she got r**ed. He also done a polygraph on that too. She finally told the truth. It wasn't Craig and Landreth then it was called something else.

REPLIES: Wow! That’s terrible Because I’m sure that hurt his life, his reputation, and I’m sorry for that that’s awful. OK so... you’re saying that the rumor is that my uncle was trying to steal a car and got caught by the people who owned the car and that they may have beat him? Do we happen to know who “they” are? I don’t see that being realistic however it may be I’m not saying my uncle was perfect he was a little rebel but he was in the military and was just home for Christmas break from the military it just seems like something odd and random to do during that time but who knows I plan to do all I can do to figure this out

ANONYMOUS TIP: He said he knew a Bill Nall that owned a Texaco. He said which Texaco?

2Dark + Fog
***wooded area wasn't built up like it is now.

There were 2 men & I woman with him. They had been drinking. One guy had something in his hand. They were walking in open field. They argued, (railroad tracks) one guy had longer dark blonde hair (mullet & longer top part of mustache) wearing jean jacket and boots.

One guy hit him with an object Donnie fell and other guy was kicking him (can't ever make out his face it's always blacked out).
BLOOD EVERYWHERE!

The lady was hovered over him crying, saying “Oh, Donnie what did they do to you! Oh, God! No Please!” She left him there. She had long dark hair and skinny build.

They all walk away, a few moments later after the lady.
