It’s been a long time since we’ve broken down in the middle of nowhere. A third of the way between northern California and Los Angeles. I traveling companion who is a teenager refuses to participate in the breakdown pectoral. Boring boom.!

There’s nothing quite like long term car ownership, it’s a great thrill when you find one, and it’s getting more and more difficult too. On no particular Sunday the car-gods would shine upon me. I Met the family of this 1986 560SL ( Diamond Blue metallic) We struck up a deal and I had the chance to meet the owner himself,,, Melvin. I wished I had a chance to spend some more time with Melvin. Enthusiast for the brand are a particular kind of person, they like horsepower, torque and speed, there’s also reliability, quality, luxury, and of course, performance and safety. It’s in every spec and every detail. We spent some time on this car, dash repair, new factory interior and all the Vacuum hoses that needed replacing. Today was a beautiful day, I put on my Thursday best and set out with no particular destination in mind. Melvin I hope you like what we’ve done and I’m pleased to be the new steward of your SL. Giovanni Michelotti was tasked with helping to re-create BMWs line of cars.
This 1966 2000 C (automatic), is the 313th car produced, coupled with a rare first generation automatic transmission; ZF12 makes for super rare little car. Polaris is the name of the color.
An Email from BMW suggests that this is the oldest one in the world in its class,,, new generation!

Don Loper was a friend mine, Choreographer, dancer, and designer of fabulous clothes including these beautiful cufflinks. My friend Jean gave them to me she is missed.! I got the tie and matching Kerchief from my daughter Grier,,, ❤️Hermes!

What do you do when you go back to see your parents and you catch covid 19 and you’re locked in your parents basement for two days no windows like some crazed college student? You drive… you crave tacos and you think no way and then in the middle of Civil War battle grounds you find Lalo‘s taco cart! All is right with the world!
