On the dyno, an early 911 with a 3.45 twin plug conversion by TLG. What is unique besides the 292 RWHP in a 2300 lb chassis with a 7:31 r/p, is our new twin plug conversion setup: extremely simple, most reliable, elegant, very inexpensive, and factory Porsche. No unreliable or NLA aftermarket ignition modules or splitters. All that's needed is the 993 ignition module, a second coil, and the 964/993 twin plug distributor. We modify the 3.2 DME to provide the trigger signal to drive the 993 module. See:

TLG engine build details: custom Mahle 3.45 pistons, twin plug, 964 cams, our rebored throttle body, modified airbox, factory stock exhaust. 292 wheel HP, 340 flywheel HP.

With TLG Porsche at Ed Pink’s. So apparently this car arrived from the owner/builder as quite the challenge to debug and reprogram. The engine was a Frankenstein of 993/964 components, with a stock 993 3.6 bottom end, and somewhat 964 intake system, and 964 DME and harness. The Tiptronic 964 throttle body had to be replaced with a manual unit as the throttle sensors are different. The PIWIS detected that the hall sensor was faulty, so we locate and replace the twin plug distributor. Next we find the resonance flap is not functioning properly because HP falls off hard after 5500 RPM so we're debugging this one as the resonance section is from a 993, but controlled by 964 electronics. We manually lock the resonance flap to full open and HP peaks at 6200 RPM as it should and make excellent peak power. But I couldn't figure out why the car ran so rich, until the final 30 minutes we are told it has 993 fuel injectors, which are much higher in flow by 23%. Lucky I got plenty of hair to spare, unlike MarcošŸ˜— On the positive side, the motor which came in dynoing 235 HP at the wheels on the Dynojet, and now dynos at 273 HP at the wheels, which is something like 310 - 315 at the motor, on 91 octane pump gas. This is something like 15-20 HP over at standard rechipped 964-993, likely due a lot to the custom unmuffled headers.

A 993 3.8 Euro RS clone, with TLG Porsche, on the Dynojet at Ed Pink Racing Engines. Blue dyno is as the car arrived and with a factory 3.8 RS chip program. After correcting a non-working resonance flap and retuning and optimizing the excessively rich air fuel ratio, the car now develops 288 rear wheel hp, or about 330HP at the motor, a 30 hp increase at the motor. Also note the 62 rwhp increase at 6400 (70 at the motor).

Arnulf Graf's stock 964 Targa, modified by Pro Motorsports with a Cup pipe, cat bypass, and modifed cut open airbox. Baselined dynoed with the stock chip produces a max power of 236.4 at the rear wheels. After dyno retuning with AFR optimization, on 91 octane pump gas, Arnuf's 964 makes 255.2 HP at the rear wheels, a 17.8 HP and 17 ft-lb torque increase at the wheels. Factoring a 12% transmission loss, power increase at the motor is +20.3 HP and +19 ft-lbs torque. New power from the motor is a true 290 hp at the crank.

Chris Noland’s 964 being tuned on the Dynojet. A RS interior with Pole Positions, a Momo Mod. 07, a BBI built 3.6 with 993SS cams, a lwf, and Rothsport headers make for quite the hot rod!
