1969 Pontiac Firebird looking stunning at the Cherry Bombs Classic Car Show in Londonderry, NH! This rich orange shade immediately caught my eye. I’ve seen several amazing classics wearing a color like this over the years, but this is the first Firebird I’ve photographed in it.

1966 Chrysler 300 Convertible

Chrysler's letter-series 300s (C-300 through 300L, 1955-1965) had set speed records and won races, but they'd never sold in volume. When the letter cars ended after the 300L, the non-letter 300 absorbed whatever performance credibility remained and paired it with broader market appeal. The 1966 model was the first to wear the 300 name without a letter-series counterpart.

Sitting between the Newport and New Yorker on Chrysler's C-body platform, the 300 wore Elwood Engel's squared-off sheet metal with a crosshair grille and clean flanks.

The standard engine was a 383-cubic-inch V-8 producing 325 horsepower through a Carter four-barrel carburetor, backed by either a three-speed manual or TorqueFlite automatic. A new 440-cubic-inch V-8 joined the options list, available only with TorqueFlite.

Four body styles were offered: two-door hardtop, four-door hardtop, sedan, and convertible. The convertible accounted for 2,500 of the 49,598 Chrysler 300s built that year, making 1966 the model's highest-volume production year after the letter-series ended.
