How to add HazMat endorsement to your CDL license class C, B or A? The steps are the same.
Before going to the DMV.
First submit your application with a fingerprint to the TSA for a criminal background check. The process takes about 2 months, if you are qualified the TSA will advise the DMV.
Next go to any approved entity by FMCSA to get your ELDT HazMat theory education. That entity could be a school or classes online. The theory part usually consists of short videos to watch. After each video there are a few questions you have to answer, you need 80 percent to pass.
Then the entity will issue a certificate on your name and submit it electronically to FMCSA, it takes 48 hours to appear at the DMV. Go to the DMV and submit your application for the HazMat endorsement and pay the fee.
Then you need to study and prepare yourself to take the DMV exam. It is a computer test with 25 questions you need to pass with 80 percent. It is done.

How to remove air brake restrictions?
Q: I have class B or class A license but I took the test on a vehicle with hydraulic brakes so I have restriction Z on my commercial license. How do I remove these restrictions so I can drive a vehicle with a full air brake system?

Answer from Commercial Trucking School:

Z Restriction- No Air Brake
The Z restriction also prohibits the driver from operating a commercial vehicle with a full air brake system. This occurs if the following happened:
The driver completed the air brake written test and passed.
But the driver completed the tests with a vehicle that has a partial air system or hydraulic system.

To remove this restriction you have to visit the DMV office and submit your application and pay the proper fee. You don’t need to retake any written test.
Bring a vehicle with a full air brake system. You need to do air brake tests( Governor cut out, air leakage test, low air warning device, automatic pop out test for the emergency brakes) and take the driving test only, no skills, no inspections.
Of course you need to test all vehicle lights to make sure the vehicle is safe to drive on the road.
Also you have to test the parking brake, trailer brake and the service brake to make sure they are working and the vehicle is safe to drive “They are not part of the air brake tests”
Note: removing a restriction is not the same as adding an endorsement.
