1976 Chevrolet Chevelle Laguna Type S-3 Coupe.
The Laguna took the top trim level spot from the Malibu when it was introduced in 1973 (only year the Laguna was available as a Sedan or a Station Wagon). In 1974 the Malibu-classic took back the top trim level and the Laguna was renamed the Laguna Type S-3 and would replace the Super Sport as a performance trim level. In 1975 the Laguna got it's urethane front bumper, used by NASCAR, and louvered opera windows. In 1976 the Laguna got new taillights and rear styling. Only 38,790 Lagunas would be produced with only 9,100 produced in 1976. Power for the 1976 S-3 came from a base 305CID 2-barrel V8 making 140hp and 245ft lbs torque backed by a 3-speed manual gearbox or a TH350 automatic transmission. The other three engine options included a 2-barrel 350CID V8 rated at 145hp and 260ft lbs torque, a 4-barrel 350CID V8 producing 165hp and 260ft lbs torque and the top option 400CID 4-barrel V8 making 175hp and 305ft lbs torque. The 350 engines were backed by a TH350 automatic transmission and the 400 engine was backed by a TH400 and base 3.08:1 rear gears with 2.73:1 as an option. The top option car performance numbers= 114mph top speed, 10.6 second 0-60mph and a 17.9 second quarter mile at 78mph.

1957 Ford Fairlane 500 2-door Club Sedan.
In 1957 Ford sold 1,522,406 cars to lead all domestic car sales. Top sales went to the Ford full-sized car designed by Ford Chief of Style, George W. Walker. These cars can easily be identified by two headlights and big tailfins. The full sized Ford was available in 4 trim levels, the base Custom and Custom 300 on a 116inch wheelbase and the Fairlane and Fairlane 500 on a 118inch wheelbase. There would be 637,162 of the top trim Fairlane 500s produced and of those 93,756 were 2-door Club Sedans. Power came from a base 223CID inline six making 144hp and 206ft lbs torque. Optional engines were all Y-block V8s and included a 272CID 2-barrel making 176hp and 264ft lbs torque, a 292CID 4-barrel making 206hp and 297ft lbs torque, the 292CID T-bird V8 with a 4-barrel producing 212hp and 297ft lbs torque, a 312CID 4-barrel good for 245hp and 332ft lbs torque or the 312CID Paxton Supercharged V8 pumping out 270hp and 336ft lbs torque. All engines were backed by a 3-speed or 3-speed with overdrive, both manual gearboxes or a Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission with 3.10:1 or optional 3.56:1 rear gears. Top option performance=119mph top speed, 9.0 second 0-60mph and a 16.6 second quarter mile at 85mph.

After 1953 and 1954 model years Dodge was on the brink of bankruptcy. The company was saved when Prudential gave Dodge a $250 million loan for Virgil Exner's all new design lineup for 1955, this would save Dodge. For 1955 the standard Dodge trim level was a Coronet with the Royal an intermediate trim level and the Custom Royal Lancer (2 and 4-door Hardtops and Convertibles) and the Custom Royal (4-door Sedan) were the top trim levels. The Custom Royal Lancer came with chrome tailfins, special taillight surroundings, luxury interior and a standard 270CID Super Red Ram Hemi-head engine. The base engine was equipped with a Stromberg 2-barrel carburetor and was rated at 175hp and 240ft lbs torque backed by a 3-speed manual gearbox with 3.48:1 rear gears (3.73:1 as an option), a 4-speed manual gearbox and 4.10:1 final drive ratio or the 2-speed Powerflite automatic transmission with 3.54:1 rearend gears. Optional was the Super Red Ram Special Power 270CID Hemi-head engine topped with a Carter WCFB 4-barrel carburetor good for 193hp and 245ft lbs torque backed by a 3-speed manual gearbox with 3.73:1 rearend gears, a 2-speed Powerflite automatic transmission and 3.54:1 rear gears or a 4-speed manual gearbox with 4.10:1 rearend gears. The top option car with a 4-speed was capable of 11.4 second 0-60mph times, 18.2 second quarter mile times at 76mph and had a top speed of 104mph. Did You Know: Of the 89,304 Custom Royal Lancers produced in 1955 30,499 were 2-door Hardtops.

The 40s and 50s were the age of the Sedan Delivery pushed by Chevrolet and Ford. The 1955 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery was only available with the 150 trim level and came with a top hinged rear door and one bucket seat with a second bucket seat optional. These were also the rarest 150 trim level 1955 Chevrolets with only 10,639 produced. Motivation came from a base 235CID inline six making 123hp and 207ft lbs torque with a 265CID V8 equipped with a Rochester 2-barrel (2-jet) good for 162hp and 257ft lbs torque and a 265CID Power Plus V8 equipped with a Rochester Quadrajet (4-barrel) producing 180hp and 260ft lbs torque as options. Backing all three engines was a 3-speed manual gearbox with 3.70:1 rear gears with an optional 4-speed manual gearbox with 4.11:1 rear gears or a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission with 3.55:1 rear gears.
