Project Update – “The General” | 1985 Chevrolet K/10

Over the Christmas holidays all the way until last thursday, The General was completely disassembled and rebuilt from the ground up with a brand-new custom chassis from Acme Chassis. This wasn’t a refresh — it was a full transformation.

The truck now sits 5” higher and features:
• 4-link front and rear coil-over suspension
• Custom purple flake powder-coated chassis
• All new brake lines, fuel lines, and fuel tank
• New under-truck lighting
• New bed floor
• Re-upholstered interior components
• Extensive new wiring throughout

With the chassis upgrade complete, my focus shifted to refinement.

Over 75 hours were invested in precision wet sanding, correction, polishing, and coating of areas that were previously inaccessible — including the engine bay, aluminum radiator and fan shroud, core support, underside of the hood, back side of the cab, and the front of the bed. The core support, driver door and driver fender were all removed and repainted, allowing me to dial them in.

Just about every surface was addressed. Any minor scratches or marring on the exterior were corrected. The truck then received a final polish to achieve that award-winning, mirror-like “grand piano” finish that stops people in their tracks.

The build was completed just hours before loading onto the trailer and heading to Lone Star Throwdown — where it placed in the Top 100 for the second year in a row.

Congratulations to Travis, Jana, and everyone who had a hand in this exceptional build. It’s an honor to be trusted with a vehicle of this caliber.
