🏆 Toy Category Winner – “Weekend Warrior”
We’re proud to announce Mike from North Carolina as the winner of our Toy Category with his unforgettable VW rat rod: Weekend Warrior.

Mike told us he built this wild machine 15 years ago in memory of a close friend who served in the military and passed away. But the tribute didn’t stop there—Weekend Warrior carries a military theme and honors all who have served, past and present. “I sincerely thank each and every one of you for your service,” Mike said.

What began as a 1967 VW evolved over the years into something truly one-of-a-kind. While the VW engine still runs in the back, Mike added a fake V8 up front just for looks—answering the calls from friends who joked it needed more muscle. It’s a build that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but still delivers a serious message.

The design nods to the iconic P-40 and P-51 fighter planes—built to embody the same grit, spirit, and respect for the heroes who flew them.

And here’s the kicker: we’ve turned Weekend Warrior into a custom Rat Fink-style sticker that we’ll be including in future Fuel Guys shipments. It’s our way of sharing this bold build and powerful tribute with our whole community.

Congrats, Mike—thank you for honoring service and storytelling in such an unforgettable way.

🏆 Big Rig Category Winner
We couldn’t take our eyes off this stunning build and once we heard the story behind it, we knew it had to be our Big Rig category winner.

This beauty started life back in April of 1941 as a fire truck in Colorado. After years of service, she retired to a farm in North Dakota before eventually making her way down to Florida. That’s where a friend of Greg’s started the build.

There was just one issue, Greg’s friend was 6'6" and quickly realized he wasn’t going to fit. That’s when Greg stepped in and took over the project.

The cab was rust-free, and the metal fabrication work was already done. From there, Greg tore it all down, repainted it, and handled the finishing touches to bring this big rig back to life.

She now wears a show-stopping coat of Apricot and Violet Pearl, with a full leather interior, restored original chrome and stainless, and a 502 Big Block under the hood—complete with air conditioning.

And just like our other winners, Greg’s rig has been turned into a custom Rat Fink-style sticker, which will be included in future Fuel Guys orders. We’re proud to help share this head-turning hauler with our whole community.

Congrats, Greg—thanks for giving this ol’ girl a second life in style.

🏆 Grand Prize Winner + Classic Car Category Winner
We asked for rides with stories—and John from Florida delivered one we’ll never forget.

John told us about this 1961 Ford Starliner—the very car his dad drove when he was just 16. His dad sold it when he joined the Army and went on to serve in Vietnam. After retiring, he spent years searching for that same exact car.

In 2019, the family lost their beloved mom, Margaret—affectionately known as “Ms. B” by the kids she drove every day as a school bus driver. Just a year later, in 2020, John’s dad finally found the Starliner he had been looking for all that time.

Now 77, John’s dad is still caring for John’s two older sisters who have special needs. “He’s my hero,” John told us. “This car and this moment are for him.”

Greg Daniel helped bring the Starliner back to life with a fresh coat of paint—and it looks absolutely stunning.

And to celebrate this incredible story, we’ve turned John’s Starliner into a custom Rat Fink-style sticker, which we’ll be including in upcoming Fuel Guys shipments. It’s our way of honoring this legacy ride and sharing it with the community.

It’s more than a car—it’s a story of restoration, family, and love that spans generations. That’s why it earned the top spot in our Feature Your Ride contest.
