Long time customer and friend Dan took off this past weekend with the first production version of our Rock crawling Rear steer Rzr based chassis. I think we are going to dub this chassis the Spider Monkey. Those that know the OG spider monkey as my orignal 900xp based crawler has traveled the country and been an absolute legend in the rocks. It makes things so easy, a complete rookie can tackle the hardest trails anywhere it goes. These new machines are the first cars that I’m confident are more capable and will carry on its legacy.

The Spider Monkey chassis is what we consider the ultimate Utv crawler/trail machine. It’s setup for unparalleled visibility, comfort, durability, and CG. With a near 50/50 weight bias front to rear and a low 2600lbs total weight it does very silly things with the 39” MRT tires. Speaking of which, the choice or parts is what makes all the difference with this build. Our entire suspension, along with front and rear steering, coupled to 6” 60% GDP portals, and MRT 39” tires is the ultimate setup! Gone are the days of breaking axles, front diffs, drive shafts, and transmissions. All the failure points have been eliminated. The chassis is built around these components coupled to your choice of Rzr turbo/1k power plant, we highly recommend the 22+ Pro XP as a donor and that is what is used for this build.

The details are: 114” wb, 85” wide, 19” belly height. Chassis width at A =50 at B =56 chassis height is just under 50” skid plate to peak of roof.

The lower chassis is built from 1.75” x.188 wall DOM coupling our front and rear bulkheads together with a modest 6” boat side and tapered belly pan. The rock rails being under 50” wide. It’s clad with custom Cnc routed and bent 1/2” uhmw skids. The skids are strategically mounted to mostly corner gussets flush with the lower tubes using standard hat washers and 1/4-20 hardware. This makes sure the skids can be quickly removed and installed for cleaning over several seasons of abuse. They are even easier to replace when they get worn out down the road.

The chassis is built with a 9.5 gallon steel fuel tank that’s lined and setup forward and centered for weight with a group 35 battery right behind it under the center console. The front of the chassis is built around a full size comp/narrow drum winch such as the warn RC 9.0 or the SATV 12k two speed winch. The solenoid mounts above the drum and nestles right between shocks. The shock mounts are all integrated into the tube work for precise location and minimal visibility impact.

The bay between the seats and the engine house all the mechanicals such as the rear steer valve, harness, coolant pump, coolant tanks, rear fuse block, voltage regulators, steering filter, starter solenoid the radiator and our custom mid ship exhaust. Moving the muffler in front of the engine allows for us to package a nice fairly quiet exhaust package that is not only compact and well protected but also further away from the shock and intake/intercooler. With the proper panels, heat shielding, and airflow of the fan + clutch exhaust we have no cab heat issues. The panel above the bay closes out the harness bar to the airbox to make sure the airbox is isolated from heat.

Behind the airbox in the bed is the prefilter assembly which means almost never having to replace the paper air filter. Just rinse the pre-filter out with water and reinstall dry. Its closeout panel has a nice shelf with tie downs to pair with the Rad Rails tie down system around the bed. The bed is large enough to support a pack out system and behind the bed we have a Milwaukee pack-out cooler rack which covers the rear steer self center assembly.

Creature comforts like heated PRP low backs with adjustable head rest. Tilt column, suede steering wheel, and Sweet Mfg quick release keep you connected. The factory display is up top of the console with a stand alone fuel pressure, oil pressure, and fuel level (needed for accuracy with our tall narrow tank). Can’t forget the cue ball shifter and cup holders!

These chassis set a new standard for capabilities in a Utv platform. This is a full size buggy that’s lighter than most other UTVs build this size. Front and rear one finger steering for ultimate control. Paired parts you that you can abuse regularly with confidence. All this in a chassis that’s built to keep you safe and last a long time.

Pro xp build we finished up a couple months ago for Omar Torres. Go check it out at the Off-road Products Expo in Hotsprings this weekend!

Quick walk around of Turbo R we finished last week. This has our balljoint and shock fork delete front arm setup, our FSB (front steering bumper) hydraulic setup, along with our complete gen2 rear steer setup. We setup this one up on Super Atv 4” dual 30% portals with MRT 18” forged wheels and 39” sticky’s. We through a custom exhaust on it to clear the rear steering (super quiet). Along with tying in the existing ORB rear bumper/cage.

The front and rear suspension was completely redesigned and we eliminated the horrible axle angles from the excessive factory droop. The front end features camber and caster adjustability. We added a crazy amount of ground clearance with a new shock eyelet setup. The hybrid tube and plate upper arm gives us the clearance we need with unprecedented strength due to not having the steering in the factory location to work around.

We will have another post detailing the latest Rear steer kits

This rig should be an absolute monster on the trails. If you want the ultimate steering and suspension setup for your machine feel free to DM us or email [email protected] with what you are looking for.

Here is Keith Smith x3 max that we did a host of upgrades on! We started by upgrading his 6” 30% single idler GDP portals to the 6” 45% duals so he can abuse this thing without concern. With that mind set I suggested that we go ahead and do a balljoint delete and take that point of failure out of the equation. Using Teflon 3 piece 1.25” hiems and our pinch bungs that we machine in house, proper 5/8” misalignment spacer allow 35 degrees of steering angle with tons of room around the CV and boot. The modified CT Race Worx arms are attached to our custom portal plates with the steering arms in the perfect loacation to remove all the bump steer. This rig having Universal Air Suspension bag setup the bump steer really showed so took a lot of time to eliminate that.

The main reason it was here is obviously for the rear steering. Having known countless people with radial joint failures we knew they were not up to the task of steering so we machined our own bearing blocks for the rear portal plates using 7/8” uniballs with 5/8 hardware, we also chose to use 7/8 joints and 5/8 bolts at all locations on the rear. This design allows 22 degrees of steering out back from center, more than double what a factory radial joint can move even when you take out the clearance issues with the trailing arms on those.

Speaking of trailing arms we moved the rear shock to change the droop and maintain up travel this move allows for a super high clearance tube structure where the factory shock mount is nearly below the bottom of our netting almost 5”extra clearance where it counts. We moved the sway bar links to outside of the trail arms and upgrade those to 3/4” joints with a little better alignment than factory. The rear radius and tierods are all 1.5” 7075 with 7/8” joints and 5/8 bolts

We had to sleeve and reinforce the rear frame to make it reliable long term. We are using our own recipe of external limit switches and our own handle (that Trey Price has been helping dial in) to control the rear ram with a harness/relay box from Busted Knuckle Off Road. This setup allows the user to never send the pump into bypass no how it’s being used along with multiple drive modes to be used.

Rzr XP/turbo rear steer kit is all done. This kit is the best possible setup you can accomplish on trailing arms. With full travel, 20 degrees of steering, and 50% better rear toe geometry than stock. The kit uses 7/8 fk uniballs as the rear pivots with 3/4” hiems throughout the radius radius and tie rods. The setup you see uses a self centering assembly from BK with additional limit switches and mutilple drive modes so that you can hold the switch to the lock (not stressing the pump) and then let it return to center when you let off. You can also turn the self center function off completely or use the momentary button on the control handle.

The trailing arms are built with 7/8” hiems up front with all 3/16” plate. The portal knuckles are 3/8” plate with extra large machine uniball carriers. The dual idler portals are modified by drilling out the outer bolts hole all the way through the box to support a much stronger and wider bolt pattern. This setup works with all popular 15” 5-1 wheels on the 4” portals. The cast 18” MRT wheels require a small spacer as they already do with many portal setups. The new 18” forged wheels fit with no issues. This setup obviously requires a side exhaust. Guys can make their own or buy a trinity or I can give you the PNs for how we did this one.

This entire setup ties into our billet pump drive assembly and front steer kits which is also installed on this xp1000 of Ben Ziglin .The first batch of rear steer kits must be installed here and after those few remaining I will ship as weld on/bolt on kits. These will also be done for the pro xp platform and the Turbo S over the next several months. These are very labor intensive kits but the results are amazing.

For reference the inside to inside turning circle is less than 19’ now. See the videos in the comments.

Ok guys and gals, here is the first video of what’s coming out finally. This system is design to work with or without the Dynamix suspension. This design allows it to work across multiple models and fit all types of riding. The first kits are for portal equipped cars, however we will off a new front knuckle option in the future for the non Portal cars. The biggest features of this kit is we have no clearance issues with any diffs, any suspension, or cause any added maintenance in an already crowded area. Also with the larger tires and heavier machine rock crawling the added power in this system will great. I was able to achieve 80% less bump steer than the factory car throughout the suspension travel and we have also removed 80% of the factory steering Ackerman which means that outside tire is turning nearly the same as the inside tire. Makes a huge difference on the trail, in the rocks, and on the big mud bikes with limited steering from cv angles.

These will have many options, from complete portal brackets, to DIY weld on steering arms, to no portal plates or tierods for the custom big lift crowd, so be patient while I get all that sorted out.

The kits will start around 4k and have options from their. We will supply tierod mounting locations for all the suspension builders and guys doing BJ delete conversions.

This last week I shipped out the first batch of 10 production Canam X3 hydro steering kits, from the top rock racers, to the top mud guys, to trail riders on portals and 35s. These kits are the ultimate steering solution for your Canam x3. You will have over 5000lbs of steering force to your tierods at the tip of your finger. Double shear inner tierod mounts eliminates factory inner joint failure and retains proper steering geometry compared to clevis brackets on a factory rack. These are bolt in complete kit that come partially assembled to make install even easier. I will offer these with and without tierods based on the needs of the customer. Our second batch of kits is nearly sold out so if you want to get on the list it’s time. These will be $4300 without tierods and $4495 with custom CT racing tierods made for this kit instead of the factory inner joints. Those prices include standard ground shipping in the continental US 48. The drive cover assembly has an all new water pump assembly and all new OEM gaskets and even oil filter needed. You must supply fluids needed during install. You must also supply limit straps or shocks internally limited for stock suspension to our standards, guys with lift kits will need to be accommodated on our end.

David, was lucky enough to get one of our early factory frame Rzr hydro steering kits. All of our early stuff was pre-sold but the production kits will be ready to go very soon. Please keep an eye on the page for the release and all the info in the coming weeks.
