Everyone always want to know how we are different from other training programs. Here is a review from a former student that explains it.
Angela B
I’ve attended all the riding schools and worked with just about every motorcycle coach within 200 miles of Southern California. Some of those experiences were worse than others, but all of them had one thing in common: no instant feedback. That’s why Ted & Elaine’s One On One Superbike Training is better than all those others. Here’s how most other track schools operate: You ride a 20 minute session, during which you’re fortunate if your assigned coach gets to watch you for more than two laps because chances are that coach is assigned to 2-5 other students during the same session, then after getting off your bike, removing helmet, remembering to sip some water, lumbering in your boots and leathers over to your coach who says: “you looked (fill in the blank) during your (entry/apex/exit) at Turn (insert number here).”
NOW I TRIPLE DARE YOU TO REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT THE COACH IS SAYING THAT YOU DID OR DIDN’T DO BEFORE OR DURING OR AFTER THAT TURN POSSIBLY ONE TO TEN LAPS AGO AND THEN ENGAGE THE COACH IN A USEFUL CONVERSATION ABOUT IT!!! And responding with “I did? (pausing trying to remember) Huh...” does not count as useful. Even the schools that offer video review of that very thing you did or didn’t do is not nearly as useful because watching video of what you did after the fact is not nearly as useful as HEARING YOUR COACH INSTANTLY TELL YOU THAT THING WHEN YOU ARE IN THAT TURN AT THE TIME YOU ARE ENGAGING MUSCLES AND FEELING THE MOVEMENT OF THE MACHINE AS IT RESPONDS TO YOU AND YOUR INPUT AS YOU RECEIVE IT FROM YOUR COACH!!
Look, you don’t punish your puppy a week after he pees on the carpet and you don’t reward your kid a month after he gets an A on his math quiz. The sooner your riding coach can tell you to make a correction in your body position or speed or line, the better you can incorporate that feedback into your next lap and the lap after that. The same goes for hearing a coach giving you instant feedback that reassures you at that moment that you are doing it right, this positive reinforcement becomes an assurance, a confidence builder that also helps to reinforce the fact that the way you feel at that spot on the track at that moment are right.
I truly feel that a riding school or coach who doesn’t offer one-on-one coaching with an in-helmet communication system and is a complete waste of time and money. Thanks Ted & Elaine for making the biggest improvements and most significant confidence gains I’ve ever experienced!
