Local residents, Greg and Kathye Balmes, have envisioned giving people the opportunity to relish in the beautiful and lush landscape of the Lake County Forest Preserve. They are hosting the first ever Fat Tire Trail Duathlon, to be held at the pristine Independence Grove Forest Preserve. The Fat Tire Trail Duathlon is unique in that it takes place on a trail, allowing for first-time race participa

nts, as well as experienced racers. Additionally, a small-scale children’s race, to follow, will pave the path for our next generation athletes. Fat Tire Trail Duathlon is grateful to be in partnership with many local businesses throughout the community, and blessed to be donating a percentage of the proceeds to Make-A-Wish® Illinois, and Oasis for Orphans.
