We found this truck a couple days before taking 4643 to the first Ultra4 Stock Class race. Now, finally, it's getting restored and we're doing a road rally next week with it. Should be good times, and hopefully it holds together. When we get back We'll be focusing on getting the other Comanche ready for a LeMons race. It's Comanche time!

A bunch of people have commented "You guys looked really quick coming down backdoor.".

The truth is we lost brakes around mile 2, so the only option we had left was the gas pedal. Seems to have worked out fairly well, until we lost the engine coming off of Emerson around mile 88.

Soooo, this happened.

Well...that didn't go quite as planned. We had an interesting start to the day with the steering box blowing a seal about three miles in. Coming down Backdoor with no front brakes because of all the steering fluid on the rotors was...exciting. Unlike most of the other 4600 class race cars, we elected to drive the XJ down without a winch line on the back. The huge crowd that was spectating went wild.

After swapping in a spare box, 4643 went back out and kept attacking, picking off other competitors. Things were looking great for a solid finish until the motor started to lose power and make some ugly noises. Rather than risk getting stranded with a seized lump, the decision was made to call it and limp back to the pits.

A bitter end to a promising event, but as they say, that's racing. We'll be back.

Last little bit of pre-running today, then a final nut-and-bolt before we race on Thursday. So far, so good!

T-minus 3.5 days, everything is looking good. 4643 is fast, planted and ready for battle.
