I've been following the reports of a drone hovering over homes and skylights late at night in the Wallace area, and the neighbors are right to be worried. A drone sitting outside a bedroom window at 11 p.m. is not mapping or photography, and it reflects badly on every responsible pilot around here. Real aerial work happens in daylight, with the owner's permission, high and quick. That is how I fly, Part 107 certified and insured.

If you are concerned about a drone over your home, it is easier to identify than you think. Since 2023 most drones must broadcast Remote ID, a digital "license plate" showing the drone and the operator's location, and free apps like Drone Scanner, OpenDroneID, and Dronetag can read it from the ground. Log every sighting (date, time, direction, altitude) and send it, along with any Remote ID capture, to West Brandywine PD, who already have an open case with the FAA and FBI. Do not try to jam or shoot down a drone; that is a federal crime and only helps the other side.

There's a whole different side to Nichol Park in when you see it from 400 feet up. Summer out here brings the wildflowers out in full bloom, the ballfields freshly striped, and green rolling clear to the horizon. ZigZag Aerial spent part of the holiday weekend flying the whole park — the courts, the diamond, the paths curving through the meadows — and swung across the road to catch the farmland, where the standing corn makes it's own kind of pattern.
