We have sold Tehini MADJK to our freind Konrad.

Our boating life is not finished but most likely not crossing and more oceans. 7 Grandkids and a few unfinished projects in Michigan have motivated us to move on.

Thanks for following our page.

We’ve pulled the boat and she’s on the hard in Florida. After thinking we’d never use our trailer again we hauled it to Michigan from Alabama. Now we’ve changed our mind and hauled the darn thing down to Florida to pull the boat yet again.

Old gas is the worst thing for outboards. I pulled my truck under the boat and filled it up along with all the empty gas cans we had.

The boat will sit out the rainy season and hopefully the uneventful hurricane season without us. We are 30 miles inland so lower chance of a strong storm.

Still loading up, waiting for rain to quit as I write this.

After a few days inside the ICW and outside a day in the lumpy bumpy Gulf of Mexico we arrived in Apalachicola then in Carrabella Florida to wait for weather to cross the Gulf to Clearwater. Lucky for us the best weather in weeks was the next morning.

Our first overnight crossing on our own vessel in 22 years reminds me that time flys and if you want to do something you better hurry up.

Had a few mechanical issues on the crossing, but we sorted them out underway and the boat is coming into its own.

Arriving through the break wall at Clearwater just after sunrise we continued on in the ICW for most of the day. Let’s just say on nice weather on the weekend the ICW is packed. Super yachts, Sea-Doos and pontoon boats. Our “Mad Max” unfinished homebuilt catamaran almost caused a few accidents from people staring at us and not paying attention to their own vessel.

A night at anchor and a night in downtown Fort Myers we went up the Caloosahatchee river into the Okeechobee waterway. It cuts across Florida from Fort Myers through lake Okeechobee to Stuart Florida.

Arriving now in LaBelle, ten days after leaving Dempolis. We went up a tiny creek, scraping both hulls on trees and tied up to a palm tree as if it was a piling. “Docked” for the time being.

After a long year in America’s river system we left Mobile and it was time to cut loose. Fully vaccinated and Bama now open, we tipped a couple at Lulu’s in Gulf Shore.

Shawn West, a Wharram tribe member and builder came down and checked out the boat and may have also had a beer.

Next night we anchored under the “Pink Super Moon”. Followed by a stop in Pensacola to see Conrad, Wharram Tiki 46 builder. Along with a visit from CA and Betty he’s a 3 circumnavigator and she is a 2 time one. We met them in the Red Sea and hung in the Mediterranean. CA is 90 now and climbed a 6’ step ladder to board the boat. Tough dude.

Between Conrad, Betty, CA, Amy and I we have 7 circumnavigations and have built 5 boats.

We went offshore yesterday, back in the ditch today.

It took a year, but we are underway again. Demopolis was a good spot to work on the boat during Covid.

We made many great friends, to many to mention by name. In the last week we dined out with boaters, had a shrimp and oyster cookout on the dock with a group at the marina. Had a tailgate with boaters at their motorhome. We were also invited out to a local family’s home in the woods for a dinner of red beans and rice. This week was the highlight of our stay.

Two long, but beautiful days boating down the Tombigbee river. We sailing through our first bayou north of the city of Mobile arriving there yesterday evening.

Tehini MADJK has finally been baptized in sea water. She is home in her natural element.

After a failed attempt to launch the day before we had a successful launch. With the help of Jim’s and Marla Gatz of the famed Marilla Ridge, Greg and Tricia from Mississippi and our new freind Dan we launched her like a normal pontoon boat right down a itty bitty boat ramp. Not bad for 51’ with 24’6” beam.

We raced north that afternoon, pulling the 45’ trailer, just in time the next day for my second Covid shot.

Tried to launch yesterday but the trailer broke. Trying to sort things out. Hopefully better luck next time ☘️☘️☘️☘️
