"K3" is factory color code for 1991 & 1992 Bimini Blue Mustang LX's (notchbacks, hatchbacks and convertibles). 1991's are identifiable by the black trim molding and 1992's molding was painted as the same color as the exterior paint. In 1991, 552 V8 Bimini Blues came out of the factory (106 notchbacks, 379 hatchbacks & 67 convertibles). In 1992, 1,220 V8 Bimini Blues came out of the factory (291 notchbacks, 661 hatchbacks & 268 convertibles).

For those that have followed along in the past, my original Bimini Blue hatch that my grandmother bought brand new off the lot in 1991, and that later became my first car and will be my son’s first car in a couple of years, is officially headed out for paint.

This build will happen in phases over the next year as part of a full rotisserie restoration, but today was a big milestone. Watching it get loaded up and head off with the painter is something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.
