Mebane Equine Bodyworks Tara C Mebane, CSF, EM/MT, EEMFR

Equine biomechanics, bodywork, saddle fitting, and education rooted in observation, feel, and practical application.

For riders seeking a deeper understanding of the horse. Mebane Saddlery is the home of Independent Certified Saddle Fitter Tara C Mebane. Tara has over 250 hours of study in English Saddle Fitting and Flocking from one of the most comprehensive courses of study available. Taught by Mike Scott, a Society of Master Saddlers certified saddle fitter, who is also a human and equine massage therapist with over 25 years of experience, anatomy, and an understanding of how the horse moves, were major points of emphasis in the program. Continuing education is important, so Tara apprentices as schedule permits under Mike himself, other graduates of Mike's certification program, saddle companies, and other equine professionals (vets, chiropractors, etc). Tara is also a rider and trainer herself, and understands the need for appropriately fitting tack for both the horse and rider.

Who the hell is fitting your saddle? And more importantly, what actually qualifies them to do it?

Welcome to the premiere of Unsaddled & Uncorkedā„¢ — candid conversations and live Q&A about horses, horsemanship, and the equine industry.

For our first episode, we're tackling saddle fitting. Qualifications, certifications, accountability, what horse owners should expect, and some of the industry realities that deserve a little more conversation.

No polished presentations. No carefully scripted answers. Just candid conversations, a glass of w**e, and the opportunity to ask the questions you've always wanted answered.

šŸ· So who's behind the w**eglass?

I'm Tara Mebane, a certified saddle fitter, equine bodyworker, and lifelong horsewoman with more than a decade of experience in the saddle industry. My work brings together saddle fitting, equine biomechanics, bodywork, and riding—giving me a perspective that goes well beyond whether a saddle fits a horse's back.

I've seen a lot, learned a lot, and have plenty of opinions. And I'm not particularly interested in pretending otherwise. šŸ˜‰

🐓 Got a question? Let's hear it!

Drop your saddle fitting questions in the event discussion before we go live. Curious about qualifications? Confused by conflicting advice? Wondering whether something your fitter told you actually makes sense?

Ask away! We'll pull questions from the discussion to address during the show, and you'll also be able to participate through Facebook Live comments.

šŸ· Pour yourself something good.
🐓 Bring your questions.
šŸ”„ Let's talk.

More Than a Saddle Fitter.

Most of you who’ve worked with me already know that I have a hard time looking at just one piece of the puzzle. šŸ˜‚

You might call me out for a saddle fitting, but I’m also watching how your horse moves, how you ride, and what might be going on physically that influences what we’re seeing.

That’s not something new. It’s how I’ve approached my work for years.

What is new is that I’ve been reworking my services to give clients more flexibility in how we address those things, whether it’s one appointment, a series of visits, or ongoing support.

Because at the end of the day, I want you to get the most out of the time and money you’re investing in your horse.

One professional. Multiple perspectives. Your horse at the center.

Random picture for laughs today but in all seriousness, I sent out a client survey and invitation to a private client zoom this Sunday evening and it occurred to me that I don’t think I have a lot of yalls emails since so much is done over Venmo, so if you didn’t receive the email and would like to participate in the survey (it’s anonymous) and/or the zoom invite, let me know and send me your email address! The participation and feedback has been great so far!

Hi, I’m the owner of Mebane Equine Bodyworks, Inc.! I’m a certified saddle fitter, equine bodyworker, classically trained rider, and experienced horsewoman dedicated to helping horse owners better understand the connections between their horse’s comfort, movement, saddle fit, and performance.

My goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized support—not cookie-cutter solutions. I offer saddle fit and equipment evaluations, equine bodywork, functional movement assessments, horse-and-rider biomechanics, and help investigating subtle changes or performance concerns.

I also offer virtual consultations and video reviews for horse owners who may not be local or who want another experienced perspective. We can discuss your concerns, review photos or videos, and look at the details that may be affecting your horse’s comfort and way of going.

I’m here to support the professionals already on your horse’s team and help you make more informed decisions with your horse at the center of every conversation.

Have questions about saddle fit, movement, bodywork, or performance? Send me a message or visit the link in my bio!
