Emergency Roadside Service for Semi Trucks and Trailers.

Servicing all of Upstate SC

08/31/2026

DOT put this truck out of service. 3 violations. Driver needed it legal to roll TODAY πŸ”§

Rolled up and pulled the OOS sticker paperwork:

1. Brake chamber air line rubbed by a bracket
2. Drive tire with a nail
3. Brakes out of adjustment on truck AND trailer

Driver told me straight up β€” do the bare minimum to get me legal and back on the road. Thats it.

So thats exactly what we did πŸ‘‡

BRAKE CHAMBER LINE β€” Bracket had been riding on it long enough to wear a groove into the line. Wasnt leaking yet but DOT flagged it because it WOULD have failed eventually. Instead of replacing the whole line ($$$ and more downtime waiting on parts), I REPAIRED it. Cut out the damaged section, put in a union fitting, pressure tested it, and re-routed away from that bracket so it wont happen again. Legal. Safe. Rolling.

DRIVE TIRE β€” Nail in a repairable spot. Plugged it right there instead of a whole new tire. Legal repair. Held air. Back to work.

BRAKES OUT OF ADJUSTMENT β€” Truck and trailer. Ran the whole set, adjusted every one to spec, verified stroke on every chamber. Back in DOT compliance.

Total time on site β€” under 2 hours. Driver rolled off with a legal truck and money in his pocket instead of an empty wallet from parts he didnt need.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Heres the lesson πŸ‘‡

My job is to give the customer options and tell him whats legal and safe. His job is to decide what he pays for. Every one of these repairs met FMCSA legal requirements. Every one was done to spec. Nothing was cut corners on safety.

Some mechanics wouldve tried to sell him $2K worth of new parts he didnt need. I gave him the fastest legal fix and got him rolling.

Guess who he calls next time hes broke down in the upstate?

Callout $100, labor $160/hr, parts on top. Same day pay only. Cash, card, EFS or Comdata.

ABS light on. Speed sensor code. Most guys just throw parts at it. Not me πŸ”§

Rolled up on a truck with an ABS light and a wheel speed sensor code. Easy move would be to just swap the sensor and hope for the best. Thats how you eat parts costs and still not fix the problem.

Instead I did the actual DIAGNOSTIC work πŸ‘‡

Step 1 β€” OHMED IT OUT
Pulled out the multimeter, checked the resistance across the sensor. Reading was in spec. Sensor internals are good.

Step 2 β€” AC VOLTAGE TEST
This is the one most guys skip. Set the meter to AC voltage, spin the wheel by hand, and watch for a voltage output. A good sensor will generate AC voltage as the tone ring passes it. Mine was reading LOW.

Low AC voltage with good resistance = sensor is fine but too far from the tone ring. Air gap is wrong.

Step 3 β€” PULLED THE SENSOR
Sure enough β€” sensor had backed out from the wheel hub. Not far. Just enough to kill the signal strength. Cleaned it up, pushed it back in seated tight, cleared the code.

Customer back rolling. NO parts needed. Saved him $150+ on a new sensor and about $160 on labor guessing.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Heres the lesson for the mechanics watching πŸ‘‡

Diagnostic tools cost money and take time to learn. But they SAVE the customer money and make you look like a magician when you skip the parts cannon and find the real problem.

Ohm test tells you the sensor is electrically alive.
AC test tells you the sensor is doing its JOB.
Two different tests, two different answers.

Learn both. Charge for the skill.

Callout $100, labor $160/hr, parts on top. $125 computer diag when ECM hookup needed. Same day pay only. Cash, card, EFS or Comdata.

The customer calls the shots. Not me πŸ”§

Rolled almost 2 hours up into North Carolina today for a call. Customer just wanted a new coolant cap and his coolant filled back to full. No looking into what happened. Thats it coolant filled and cap on. In and out.

That β€œsimple” job pulled the same invoice as if I had replaced a whole radiator β€” because when Im driving 2 hours each way, the travel time counts. Callout + travel + labor + parts. Same money for 20 minutes of actual wrench time.

Heres the thing most mobile guys mess up πŸ‘‡

My job as a mobile tech is to make suggestions. Point out worn belts, dry rotted hoses, a slow leak somewhere, brakes getting thin. Give the customer the full picture and my honest recommendation.

But at the end of the day, the repair I make is the repair the customer PAYS for. If he wants just a cap and some coolant β€” thats what I do. I dont pressure. I dont oversell. I dont refuse to do the small job because I want a bigger ticket.

Because heres what happens when you respect the customers wallet:

1. They call you back next time
2. They tell other drivers about you
3. When something bigger DOES break, guess who they call

The mechanics who oversell every job kill their own repeat business. The mechanics who show up, do exactly what was asked, and MENTION what else they saw β€” those are the guys with a full schedule.

Small jobs pay the same as big jobs when you charge right for your time. Dont turn down the easy money.

Callout $100, labor $160/hr, parts on top. Same day pay only. Cash, card, EFS or Comdata.

Repeat customer, quick turnaround πŸ”§

DD15 Freightliner rolled up with no air. Popped the hood and found a hole rubbed clean through the discharge line where a bracket was riding on it. Been vibrating against that spot long enough to wear straight through.

Went to swap the fabric line and the fitting where it connects to the metal pipe off the compressor head was seized. Not the whole pipe β€” just that one connection. Hit it with heat, hit it with penetrating oil, still wouldnt break loose. So I pulled the metal pipe off the compressor head too and replaced BOTH.

Fresh parts, routed clean, clamped away from that bracket so it wont happen again.

Repeat customers make this business what it is. When you take care of them the first time, they call YOU the next time. Every time.

Heres the lesson for the mechanics watching πŸ‘‡

When you find a rubbed hole, dont just patch the visible damage. Look at WHY it rubbed. If a bracket, a hose clamp, or another line is riding on it β€” fix the routing too. Otherwise youll be back on that same truck in 6 months for the same problem.

And when a fittings fighting you β€” heat, oil, and time β€” sometimes the smart move is just to replace the connecting piece instead of destroying threads trying to save $100 on a part.

Callout $100, labor $160/hr, parts on top. Same day pay only. Cash, card, EFS or Comdata.

Saturday callout β€” two problems for the price of one bad mechanic πŸ”§

Customer called me out on the weekend because his fuel line had rubbed against the frame AND the engine β€” two separate wear holes leaking fuel. Both spots were rubbed thin from the line not being routed or clamped right when somebody worked on it last.

Got the fuel line replaced and routed correct so it wouldnt happen again. While I was there the customer asked me to look at his belts because his β€œregular guy” told him they didnt need to be changed.

Pulled em off. Both belts were SHREDDING down the sides. Cords showing. Cracked all the way through the ribs. Another 500 miles and hed have been stranded on the side of the road again.

Heres the lesson πŸ‘‡

Your β€œregular guy” isnt always looking out for you. Some mechanics skip stuff so the invoice looks smaller. Some just dont know what theyre looking at. Either way β€” its your truck and your paycheck on the line.

Get a second set of eyes on your equipment. Especially if the truck keeps having issues that β€œshouldnt be issues.”

Weekend callout $100 + 2 hour labor minimum at $160/hr, parts on top. Same day pay only. Cash, card, EFS or Comdata.

Advertise OUTSIDE your normal service area. Heres why πŸ‘‡

Rolled 1.5 hours out for a QR-1C valve swap. Job itself was maybe 30-40 minutes of actual wrench time. But because I charge by the hour and travel time counts β€” that β€œsimple” valve replacement pulled the same invoice as if I had replaced a full set of brakes, swapped 8 tires, or put a new trailer door on.

Same money. 1/5 the physical work.

This is a lesson most mobile guys miss. They only market to their own city or county and turn down anything past 45 minutes. Big mistake. The further out the call, the more travel time you bill, the bigger the invoice β€” for the same wrench work.

I run ads and post content targeting the WHOLE upstate β€” Spartanburg, Greenville, Anderson, Easley, Greer, all of it. Sometimes even into Charlotte NC and Asheville. Because when a driver is broke down an hour and a half away and cant find anybody local, hes gonna PAY to get somebody there. Thats the customer you want.

The trick is qualifying the call BEFORE you roll:
- Confirm same day pay upfront
- Quote the callout PLUS travel time PLUS labor
- Get truck info and location precise
- Verify they know its an hour+ drive

If they say yes at that quote, you got a winner. If they push back, you save the fuel.

Callout $100, labor $160/hr, parts on top. Same day pay only. Cash, card, EFS or Comdata.

DD15 wouldnt build air. Rolled through the whole diagnosis top to bottom πŸ”§

Started with the obvious β€” checked the entire truck for air leaks. Nothing. Bypassed the air dryer thinking maybe it was the culprit. Still nothing.

Hooked my own service truck up and fed air directly into the system. Truck built pressure and HELD it. No leaks anywhere. That told me the problem wasnt downstream β€” it was at the source.

Went back to the compressor. Off the start it was weak, and I could hold back the air with just my thumb over the outlet. Thats a dead giveaway on a bad compressor β€” but I still ran every check first before I called it. Never skip steps.

Bad compressor confirmed.

Heres the win though πŸ‘‡ Instead of paying for a heavy tow (which wouldve been $600-1200 easy), we followed the truck to a local shop up the road for the repair. Only had to stop 3 times to refill his air. Saved the customer serious money and got him where he needed to go.

This is what mobile diesel is about. Show up, diagnose right, save the customer money where you can, and get them back rolling.

Callout $100, labor $160/hr, parts on top. $125 computer diag if ECM hookup is needed. Same day pay. Cash, card, EFS or Comdata.
