Our new to us 1949 Buick Sedanette previously owned by “The King”
Jerry Ruth. We won her from the Ruth estate auction two days ago and now it’s the first time getting wet in decades…. I think she liked it. Jerry bought this from the original owner sometime in the late 80s early 90s… The original owners name was a lady named Bessie…
Can you guess what we’ve started calling the car yet lol?
Can’t wait to dive into this project eventually, just not yet. We’re probably gonna be looking for another Buick straight 8 to put back in her…. Anyone have some possible leads, just let us know. Maybe even some used 15” wide whitewalls….. just to make it look cooler while it sits…

Here’s a killer video we took of the Ventura Motor Roadster headed to the trailer after the NW Nationals. Shout out to Hugh Tucker Jr. for getting his father, Hugh Tucker Sr. out for a great weekend. Lots of fans got to see the NHRA hall of famer in one of his favorite environments! I never saw him not smiling! This is why we do this!

Well..
I want to extend to huge thank you to everyone that participated in this years cacklefest at the NW Nationals at Pacific Raceways. We had a GREAT turn out for historical cackle cars and we also had a great bunch of people to enjoy it with. Without the rad efforts from the owners and their cars we couldn’t get this rad stuff for the fans to look at! We’re just doing our part to keep vintage drag racing history alive!
This year we had a great line up of cars that gave the fans much joy to see and smell! Up on the corner we had Randy with the Tommy Ivo BarnStormer in the original glass trailer, totally bitchin!!!!Next to him was the Ventura Motors Roadster with Hugh Tucker Sr & Jr out in the sun all weekend. Senior never stopped smiling all day. Bob O’Donnell came out with his Tommy Ivo inspired 4 engine dragster named “Crazy 4”, which was a real crowd pleaser with more people in and outta the seat for pictures than I’ve seen in a long time. We had 45 Bob with his bitchin Jr Fuel FED “Mighty Nite” barking its nitro SBC loud and proud. Next to them was Ed and Chad Neet with the tribute car “Peregrine”, done up for the late Wayne King. These boys got that car sounding the best yet with its blown 392 on 80%. Our new friend Jae brought out his sweet altered “Altered Madness” to participate and bark with us. Gary Cromwell, along with Pat and Chris, busted their hinds to get the original 1972 Taco Time Vega F/C here for its debut since its recent 2 year restoration. They almost had it ready to fire up but fell just short…. However! They made it and that’s all that matters to us.
Herman Petersen, “The NW Terror” was here in attendance helping his friend Phil aka “The Captain” with the Altered named “Pure Juice”. These guys were putting pistons in this thing just a few days before the event! Old guys rule, special shout to Justin Arias for getting them their pistons! Next was yours truly with the original “Scotty Muffler Special” AA/FD barking nitro for the fans, we also brought out our “new” Cochran Garage Apache push truck for everyone to check out. Last but not least was our beloved friends, Jim Greens family, Laurie and Nikky Green with the “B-Boys” dragster ripping through its crazy headers with its gas SBC.

At the end, the event was a complete success and everyone had a spectacular time. We tried to take as many pictures as possible and capture as many memorable moments we could. We also want to thank John and Kevin at the NHRA, the safety safari for their work, Josh with the Sherriffs Dept for keeping everyone safe, and the track personnel for their support. We appreciate the opportunity to bring these cars out and show the next generations where this magical stuff started. We look forward to next year and hopefully keep the momentum going to get more vintage dragsters out in the sun to hang out with us.
From Kelly and I, we want to say thank you once again. We can’t pull any of this off without your guys’ commitments and passion for the same thing we love.

We love you all,
-Scotty and Kelly

Here’s a special one. Please read.

This is my nephew Nathen’s 1970 El Camino. This is Nate’s first classic car, obviously his dad and his uncles are strong influencers. Nate bought this Elco almost a year ago today. And with the help from his dad and his older brother Cody, they picked out the right lowering springs, the right wheel tire combo, and changed this clean stocker into what you see here. Now this is where Nate’s uncle Scott, this guy, comes in. This thing fortunately had S*^T exhaust….so to get this badass black Elco to the next level, we built him a killer new exhaust system. I heard, do what ever you think is right Unc…. So….
What you see here is a new, true dual, 2 1/2” system, equipped with my favorite stainless 14” Porter Mufflers. Stainless V-bands were positioned perfectly to make the system fully removable, stainless turn down tips tucked up high and tight for a sneaky look, but enough to see just the tip… This stock 350 sounds absolutely the best ahead of these mufflers. It has a clean, adult, deep tone, that just finishes off the look with the perfect sound.
Now something else, from all of us, we would like to say congratulations to Nate one more time for pursuing his dreams and accomplishing his goals, he has spectacularly become a legit Seattle firefighter. Do me a favor, if you see this ElCamino at GoodGuys this weekend, and you see a younger man with a sweet mustache, tell that kid thank you for his service! We did!
We love ya buddy, ENJOY!!!!!

Also!!!!! To add to the specialness, PSA-this is the LAST exhaust job that will be built out of our “old” shop. The Cochran Garage Exhaust Shop is going through some upgrades that will be posted in the near future. We will be moving soon! Updates to follow. We appreciate all the support over the 12 years in this location.

Shout out to our buddy Anthony and his survivor crew cab Dually. We’ve done a couple cool daily rigs for Anthony and we appreciate the return business. Here we did a sanitary OBS system in 2 1/2” followed up by a Flowmaster dual in dual out super 44. We stuck the tail pipes out back and in the corners with a pair of stainless straight cut tips. This thing sounds clean and isn’t super loud beings it’s still got its cats in there. Thank you for the continued support buddy, enjoy!

Shout to my buddy Jerry from JS Customs for bringing in his well known shop truck, “Big Ugly”. Big Ugly just went under the knife and got a complete new back half done and a full air ride system. All the old exhaust wasn’t gonna cut the mustard. Here we built a new true dual system in 2 1/2” tubing using my last pair of old, USA made Flowmasters. I’m now out of Flowmasters lol. We utilized a pair of stainless V-bands to make the system fully removable and dumped the double wall tips out the side holes Jerry had already made. Under the axle was the only route to take with the new air ride system taking up all the room above. This thing sounds great, but looks even better. Thank you to Jerry for bringing us lots of work over the years and thank you for bringing in his beloved shop truck. Watch for this rolling around, enjoy!

Shout out to Klayton for trusting us to get their pesky BBC headers installed on this 68’ Camaro. Anyone who’s tackled this type of project knows the pain in the ass it can be to get headers on a Big Block first gen Camaro. The customer tried multiple times, multiple different ways and techniques, then ultimately called to say “We need help man”. We picked up and transported the car here to the shop to get started. Much “metal massaging” was required…. BUT, they’re on and they clear. We used our favorite Remflex gaskets of course, cleaned and prepped the head surfaces and away we went. The old exhaust system was to be reused so we had to do a creative link up job to get them ready for summer. Future plans include removing the headers this winter, getting them a fresh ceramic coating job, and then building an all new fully removable Cochran Garage Exhaust system. We’re glad we could help out and look forward to building a bitchin exhaust for you guys in the future!
Enjoy
