Owner Q&A: 'Why do diesels lose power in the heat?'
In Phoenix, high temps stress air, fuel, cooling, and aftertreatment systems at once. Shows up as weak acceleration or poor pull under load.
We diagnose heat-related power loss on-site.

Weekend prep checklist before Monday hauling:
✅ Coolant level✅ Belts and hoses✅ DEF quality✅ Battery terminals✅ Visible leaks

A roadside breakdown can wipe out your whole delivery window if response is slow.
Our Phoenix-area mobile response is built to move fast — typical 30-minute arrival depending on location and traffic.

Mobile vs shop — when each makes sense:
Mobile: truck won't move, every off-route hour costs real money, urgent roadside.
Shop: longer planned jobs where you can schedule downtime.
Not sure? Call us — we'll tell you straight.

EXOair installs in Phoenix have to handle high heat, long idle, and heavy-duty routing. The right install stabilizes performance when summer temps start punishing engines.
If you're comparing options for fleet trucks, we'll spec it for AZ conditions.

Coolant failure in Phoenix usually warns you first: rising temps at idle, slow pressure loss, frequent top-offs.
Catch those early and you save an engine. Miss them in 110°F and you're parked.

Phoenix heat is brutal on DEF systems. Once temps climb, DEF crystallization and flow issues show up fast — especially on stop-and-go summer routes.
If you're seeing weak regen cycles or aftertreatment faults, don't wait for a forced derate.

Fleet managers, May is the month to get ahead of summer failures in Phoenix. Here's the quick checklist we're running for customers right now:
1) AC system: Verify vent temp, compressor operation, and leaks. If drivers are roasting, productivity drops and complaints rise.
2) Belts: Check for cracks, glazing, fraying, and tension issues. One failed belt can sideline a truck instantly.
3) Hoses: Squeeze-test for soft spots, inspect ends for swelling, and look for seepage at clamps.
4) Coolant: Test condition and concentration, inspect for contamination, and verify system pressure holds.
5) Tire pressure: Heat plus underinflation kills tires fast. Check cold PSI and adjust for load.
6) Bonus check: Battery terminals and charging voltage. Summer no-starts are real, especially on stop-and-go units.
This isn't about "extra" maintenance. It's about preventing on-route breakdowns, missed deliveries, and expensive emergency repairs.
If you're managing multiple units, we can do these inspections at your yard or jobsite and build a simple plan so nothing gets missed.

A while back, my phone rang a little after 3 AM. Driver was stuck on the side of the road, stressed out, load on the clock, dispatch blowing him up. You could hear it in his voice: "Man, I just need someone to show up."
That call reminded me why mobile diesel matters.
No waiting half the day for a tow. No dragging a dead truck across town. I pulled up where he was, ran diagnostics, found the issue, and got him moving again before sunrise. Wasn't glamorous. Grease on my hands, flashlight in my mouth, tools everywhere. But that driver went from panic to relief in about an hour.
That's the part people remember. Not fancy talk, just reliability. Answering the phone. Showing up when it's inconvenient. Fixing it right so they can finish the route and get home.
If you run trucks, you already know breakdowns don't happen at "business hours." You need someone you trust when things go sideways.
That's what we do. Day or night, we come to you and handle it.

Quick question for my fleet guys and owner-operators: when's the last time you actually looked at your coolant, not just topped it off?
Coolant tells a story if you know what to watch for. If you pop the cap (only when cool) and see an oily swirl on top, that can mean oil is sneaking into the cooling system. If you spot rust flakes or brown sludge, that usually means corrosion is already working through your system. And if you're catching a sweet smell under the hood after a run, that's often coolant leaking where it shouldn't. None of this fixes itself, especially in Phoenix.
Once summer heat starts cooking the Valley, weak coolant systems turn into overheats fast. That means downtime, tow bills, missed loads, and unhappy customers.
A clean, balanced cooling system is cheap insurance compared to an engine repair. If your truck or fleet has any of these warning signs, now is the time to handle it.
If you want, we can come out and inspect it and get you set up with a coolant flush before the worst heat hits.
