No hobby stocks, but stock cars got to run with the World of Outlaw Late Models last night.

Derek heat race update - The track was slimy, and car was tight. Could not go anywhere. The throttle unfortunately stuck after the finish, and had a baby roll over in turn 1.

Special thanks to the track safety crew for a quick response! All is good.

Big thanks to Brian and Matt for helping get the car ready in crunch time for the feature, and to Kiel for the tools to get us up and running. And to all the drivers, and others who checked in, it is much appreciated!

Derek feature update - the car still sucked, plowing tight and snapping loose. Went from 15th to 12th, and drove off the track. From there was able to go from 20th back to 13th.

Good luck to Tom for this next upcoming race. He’s going into this next weekend as the Hobby Stock points leader! Derek will not be racing.

Finally got to do some racing, shout out to the track, maybe the first time all year it’s truly been the best perfect surface. Smooth slick top to bottom without a one lane dominate high side. Bottom could have used a touch more grip but can’t complain, felt amazing to be out of the hammer down or one lane. Kuddos to that at least. Ride height, a 30 second check that most other track do weekly, was finally done and impacted finishes in the hobbies and stock cars. Why this isn’t regularly done, or why it was mass confusion with how to handle the calls when they actually happen, unknown.

Tom - heat race, started 3rd brought home the heat race win. For the feature both he and Heath rolled off front row and both ran a nearly mistake free race. Battled some challengers and ultimately came home p2, congrats to Heath on the win.

Derek - started 3rd in the heat, fell back to 5th drove back to 2nd, had a hot rod and ended up with ignition failure, dnf. For the feature, started p13, fought the car being tight and over driving the slick, need more seat time here as it’s very rare we get that luxury out there. Ended up struggling to pass and a group broke off. Stayed cool to keep the car together, got a caution and it was time to go. Drove up to finishing 5th, had to check up hard passing 4th as I got drove to the bottom, we collided and just didn’t quite beat him to the line. Official finishing p2 after illegal ride heights on the top 3 finish positions got sorted out days later.

ACS over this weekend:

Tom - Feature #1, 11th to 7th. Like everyone else, ran a little warm and once it got hot ended up with some carb issues.

Feature #2 swapped carbs and fought a loose exit ultimately brought the car home complete moving 8th to 4th

Derek - Feature #1 started pole had a solid start and turn 1-2 car felt great finally some articulation been fighting setup and bent components all season. On the exit of 2 got a gnarly vibration, oiled down the tires in 3-4 and had to pull off. Flexplate exploded and took out the oil filter and oil pan.

Feature 2, DNS. Flexplate may have been cracked from the starter issue at eagle.

Weekend update:

Dennison - started 8th finished 6th in the heat, 6th finished 5th in the feature. Corning gears in the car kept me too far down in the rpms and found timing off by a considerable amount. First time there, fun interesting track. One line in the heat somewhat racey in the feature pretty rough. Started figuring it out towards the end.

Went to Eagle raceway last night - starter exploded so missed the heat race. Got it fixed and ready to roll off p14 in the B. Pretty disappointed in the track surface, it was looking decent to me then the wrecked it for us trying to farm it. Ended up with a greasy bottom, dry slick rutted to p**s middle, and greasy top. Really crap shoot of a surface. Live timing isn’t accurate drove up and finished 5th one spot out of the invert. Car finally feels like it’s coming together thanks to everyone involved in the recent struggles. Scotty for fixing the rearend. Excited to see what I can do with a smooth track.

Some reason the GoPro is only recording what it wants now, only have the heat race.

Tom started 6th and finished 4th in the heat race. Some adjustments to the car he didnt like and made a change back before the feature, paid off and drop from 11th to 3rd. Pretty good battles in the hobbies.

Stock car started 2nd in the heat and finished 1st. Insanely tight hard to drive car fortunately the others were held up by traffic. Tossed the kitchen sink at the car, went 2nd to 13th in the feature. Somethings binding, car goes tight snaps loose. Driver error took it off the backstretch and stayed in it when shouldnt of, backed it into the bank and bent a ton of stuff. Hard hit and props to track crew for quick response. Drove out of it. Car was just evil all night.

5-9-26 update - ACS - GoPro fail no videos.

Tom started 5th in the heat and drove a fast hot rod up to take home the win.

For the feature Tom started 8th and fought up towards the front being held up on some traffic that seems to struggle with a slick track, being spoiled with hammer down all last year. Ultimately finished 5th.

For stock car, started 2nd and led 4 laps before a caution. Turn 1 of the restart, a failed slider for a meaningless position gain (top 4 draw re-draw) ended the heat race. Finished 6th. Bent wheel, ruined tire, buckled door bar, bent trailing arms and rear-end housing.

Instead of drawing for likely a top 5 starting position in the feature, ended up starting 17th with a bent racecar. Drove to 9th, slid off the track missing turn in mark due to dust. Drove from 15th back to 9th and did it again. Restarted 13th and ended up 10th. Track was slick and car lacked drive on exit.

Track was nice and smooth, Dry slick to hammer down any day. The dust was pretty bad, safety crews did a great job all night. In opinion, some work needs to take place still on either lack of care or favoritism. Some cars can jump starts, run over 3-4 cars in one corner and get cheered on, others can take another out with a slider and the recipient is the only one who gets dealt the shaft. Once you roll into tech, it doesn't stop there, some obvious things are overlooked seemingly intentionally while others are clear as day illegal from a test in front of everyone yet no worries, its fine here. Finally changes get made and things seem to be looking up, hopefully improvements continue and calls, penalties will actually be made to prevent this from being a place where you can run illegal motors, demo derby off others equipment, and bull your way to the front off the starts. Grew up going to ACS and watching there, I remember 120-130 cars for regular shows. Now specials are lucky to see 100. Sad to see it, but also starting to see why..
