What Does It Mean to Be a Biker?

If you’re reading this, it means you’re either curious about this question or you’ve asked yourself this question before. Hell, there might even be a third door—you stumbled upon this by accident, but now you’re asking that question yourself. This may not give you the answer, yet it might all at the same time. I guess you’ll just have to keep reading to find out.

When you think of a biker, what comes to mind? Is it Marlon Brando from The Wild One? Is it the scruffy, scummy-looking guys you’ve seen on the corner of a local bar or at a stoplight, the ones that make you want to lock your doors in your cage? Is it the silver-haired foxes you’ve seen on their rolling couches, living out their later years with wanderlust?

Well, the answer is simple.

Each one of these is a biker. You can be the silver fox who prefers brightly colored riding attire because you think it might save you. You could be that dipsh*t on a sportbike who just found the throttle and now thinks you have to hit the rev limiter at every stoplight. You could be part of that grid of bikers riding handlebar to handlebar, rolling deep and shaking the earth as you move with one mind. Lastly, you could be that “lone wolf” (f**k, I hate that term—we really should come up with a new one) who enjoys weekend rides in solitude to escape the stresses of normal life.

That’s what makes this culture so great: you can be any of these things. You can do as much as you want or as little as you want. Need to spend more time in other areas of your life? That’s fine. The road will be there when you get back, and she’ll be happy to see you. Just never forget—she’s like every fiery woman I’ve ever met. Don’t forget to respect her, or she’ll take everything from you.
