Governor Mike Braun and DNR released plans today for an expanded McCormick's Creek State Park campground to replace the campground destroyed in the 2023 EF-3 tornado. The $25 million design includes 192 full hookup and 32 primitive campsites across 65 acres as well as tree plantings, landscaping, a new gatehouse and camp store, comfort stations and playgrounds. Contract bids open Oct. 20, 2026 while the new campground is expected to open in summer 2028.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. 🇺🇸

On September 11, 2001, our nation was changed forever. We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families who were left behind, and the countless first responders and service members who answered the call in the moments that followed.

We remember the courage of those who ran toward danger when others were running away.

We remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

And we remember the responsibility carried by those who continue to protect and serve their communities every day.

Twenty-five years later, we will never forget.
