This 1965 Mustang came to us from Midland with one goal: make it dependable enough for daily enjoyment.
The owner had already installed a Blueprint engine—but the car just wouldn’t run right. On top of that, the brakes required standing on the pedal to stop, and another shop had installed the wrong master cylinder for a manual brake setup.
So we got to work 👇
🔧 Engine & Reliability Upgrades
-Installed Holley Sniper 2 EFI + Hyperspark ignition
-Converted from carburetor to fully computer-controlled fuel injection
-Fixed wiring issues
-Relocated battery to the trunk for a cleaner engine bay
-Replaced a leaking radiator
➡️ No more worrying about tuning with every Texas weather change.
🛞 Steering Improvements
-Added Borgeson power steering conversion
-Better steering ratio + modern drivability
🛑 Brake System Fix & Upgrade
-Diagnosed system (nothing “broken”… just old-school manual brakes)
-Upgraded to hydroboost braking system for modern feel
-Converted rear drums to disc brakes
➡️ Now it stops like it should—without a leg workout.
🔥 Final Challenge: Cooling
During longer drives, we found overheating at idle—something we’ve seen before on early Mustangs. With the added horsepower, the factory radiator just can’t keep up.
💡 The fix? Larger radiator + core support modifications to handle extra power.
