June is PTSD Awareness Month, and it’s important to shed light on the silent struggles our veterans may face. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can have a profound impact on their lives, often leaving them feeling isolated alone, and forgotten. Some symptoms of PTSD include nightmares, flashbacks, avoidance of triggers, anxiety, and depression. So, how can you help?
1️⃣ Educate yourself: Learn about PTSD and its symptoms to better understand what our veterans may be going through. Knowledge empowers us to offer support without judgment.
2️⃣ Be a compassionate listener: Create a safe space for veterans to express their feelings. Often, just having someone who will genuinely listen can make a significant difference.
3️⃣ Encourage professional help: Mental health professionals can provide specialized care and therapies to assist them on their healing journey.
