I love highlighting local big hearts. If you're an animal lover, our friends over at Lucky Ones Ranch could use any support they can get.
Many people assume that running a sanctuary would be a fun hobby.
Perhaps thereâs even a paycheck. And that you can still have days off and vacations.
We have canceled or shortened many plans to get away because it's so difficult to leave with so many lives that depend on us.
At the Lucky Ones Ranch, no one gets paid.
Not for the 8 am to 11a feedings and 5p to 8p feedings.
Not for the midnight emergencies.
Not for the vet runs, the cleaning, the building, the endless worrying, or the tears when we lose one we love.
There are long hours.
There are broken hearts.
There are days so exhausting you fall into bed knowing youâll do it all again in a few hours.
And still, we show up. Every single day.
We do it because these animals were forgotten, discarded, neglected or unwanted⌠and here they are finally safe.
We do it because when they look at us with trust, it makes every hard moment worth it.
We do it because love is stronger than exhaustion.
Running a real sanctuary costs far more than money.
It costs sleep.
It costs emotional strength.
It costs time youâll never get back.
It costs heartbreak you carry forever.
But it also gives purpose.
Healing.
Second chances.
And lives saved.
Every dollar donated goes straight to their care â food, vet bills, shelter, supplies â not salaries. Vince and I also pay the electricity bill, which in 2025 was over $9000.
This is a labor of love in the truest sense of the word.
Thank you to everyone who supports Lucky Ones Ranch.
You arenât just helping animalsâŚ
youâre helping keep a promise we made to the animals for the rest of their lives â¤ď¸đž
