NEW product review time:
Received the Hung Vu 240Z rubber floor mats today and tossed them in the still hibernating original floor pan 1970, so keep in mind its tucked in the garage against a wall, I can't get to the drivers side easily, and there's poor lighting.
Initial impressions were positive and stayed positive through my fitment and torture test. They weigh in at about 7 pounds for the pair, given the rubber isn't too thick or too thin I think that weight is a good compromise. After opening the package I didn't experience any weird odors coming off the rubber...very important as I don't want my floor mats overpowering the old mouse urine smells.....I mean the 70's vinyl smell of my Z :) They come rolled up, so they'll need a bit of time to conform to the floor and not roll down at the firewall end as seen in the photos. I tried to rip them, that was a no go, the rubber durability/hardness chosen for these is spot on.
Fitment was very good, as you can see they are not as long as the competitors sewn pile style I still have in the Z, but if they were they would most likely roll off the firewall and bind up behind the pedals....a big safety issue not to worry about with the rubber mats. The taller border section of them is also an attractive feature given you get stuck in rain and/or daily drive your Z, the elements will stay within the mat and not drain over the sides easily.
The non-slip surface under the mats was also very good, I tried my best to bind/fold them up with my feet as if I was driving or braking hard in the passenger seat and they stuck in place. If there's one thing I didn't like about the competitions mats is that shortly after a couple drives they would fold up right in front of my pedals and I had to keep pulling them back flat.....not something I want to do while driving.
When I have a chance to drive with these mats, I'll edit my post with my feedback. Given the price point for a vintage style modern rubber floor mat and the overall
