Man the sling truck. This truck was a nightmare from the start. Drove an hour to look at it. Guy wouldn't budge off price. Truck had a miss but wasn't a big deal bought it anyways. Made dj drive this super sketchy truck from Washington to Uniontown smoking like a freight train. Get back and compression test it with a buddy and find one cylinder with 0 compression. I was lazy and farmed out the work and had heads pulled and found a broke exhaust valve. Had that fixed and heads checked out. Boredom one day led to me starting reassembly and of course snapped a head bolt. Luckily got it out but had to buy another head gasket and set of head bolts. Finally got it running right and decided to mount a boom in it.

Found a old 440 in a local ladies yard that she was willing to sell. Bought it and the wrecker bed it was on and then it all started. Trip to local scrap yard for a few hundred pounds of thick angle then to rural King for had to be 25lbs in hardware and we were under way. To say we over built this truck was an under statement.

Once the boom was in we ended up building the springs and adding some lighting and off to work she went. Was a good truck and used for many things. Sadly she left us a few months back but I hope she treats him good as she treated me.

Going back 2-3 years on this one but the turn around on this truck was amazing. Traded a 90 gmc I had 750 bucks in for this rotted out non running dump truck sight unseen. Transferred titles and all so there was no backing out when I seen it. When I finally got to see it man the disappointment but I knew there was hope. Few minutes of tinkering around and we had it running and drove it back to the shop. Oh what a ride that was. The body was held on by 2x4s wedged in certain places to pretty much bind it. Brakes were non existent, clutch pedal would pop of every time I hit it, no matter what light you turned on every light on the truck was on. Was comical to to turn on a turn signal and see the cab lights and cluster lights blinking. When you let off the gas pedal the cab would rock and knock the gear shifter into neutral. But it ran and dumped so it had potential. I had a body and left over paint so that wasn't a issue but didn't want to dump a bunch of money in it so we set a budget of 1000 dollars including the 750 I had in the other truck so we were basically building it for labor and 250 bucks.

Tear down was easy disconnected wiring, steering column, speedo cable, PTO cable and dump lever, and gear shifter and literally just tipped the body off. Cleaned off mounts and got bolts out to set the new body on. We used a cab, doors, hood, and cowl that I had but had to source fenders. 110 bucks at a local u pull yard and I found 2 useable fenders.

Assembly went underway along with paint just using what I had around and we had a truck that looked pretty decent. Get it all together and the wiring decided to short and try to burn the truck up backing it out of the shop. So back to you pull it and a few hours and 40 bucks later had every wiring harness in the truck replaced. So we had it running driving and looking good but it didn't stop enough to leave the driveway with. After investigating we found out whoever did the rear brakes installed them wrong and fell apart. Got them back together and had a useable brake and parking brake. Felt good at that point 900 bucks and some time and we had a useable dump truck.

First time we ever went to take it out the starter died and the wiper motor quit working. 53 bucks for a new starter and luckily I had a wiper motor laying around for it.

We have used this truck the last couple years for hauling scrap, firewood, and occasional trips to the landfill. Most recently we used it almost daily to clean up down trees on people's property and to haul away the logs. I'd love to say I'm still only $953 in it but last year I decided to be nice and buy it a good tune up and a few other things. So I'm roughly $1100 in it and still abusing it daily.

I lost all the before and almost all of the during pictures when Facebook deleted my account for pictures from groups that don't allow 🔫anymore but here's what I managed to find.

Truck number 2.

89 super duty rollback. Seen it daily sitting up top of hac. (god do I miss that place, one of the best scrap yards and families I ever dealt with) finally sealed a deal to buy it after they closed. Got it after sitting for years after they had local guy put a known good motor in it and couldn't get it to run afterwards. Once I acquired it it probably sat for a year or two while I decided what to do with it and gathered parts. Kind of sat on the back burner for a one day type of project.

Then a buddy of mine secured a few rust free 87-91 Ford's on a deal and that really pushed me to do something. After getting one on a hell of a deal from him (thanks Dylan) and having most everything else to do it I was finally motivated but we was slammed with work in the shop so it was going to be a in between things and some free time type of build.

Once we started really digging into it we realized that very little body was ever going to be saveable but not an issue because we had another body and I didn't have the time to mess with the motor to get it fired when I had a known good motor sitting there that ran a month or two prior. So we were off to the races.

We got the donor truck in one evening and had it completely stripped of everything I wanted and the rest outside and listed on marketplace to help save another Ford. Over the next few bits of free time we got the donor can prepped for paint and the rest of the body off of the superduty. With a quick engine swap and the rest of the body cut in paint wise. We had it reassembled in a weekend. By this point I thought weather turned on me and I wasn't going to have the chance to paint it this year. So we painted the bed black and was going to run it like that for the time being.

A week or two later we noticed there was going to be 3 warm days in that week so that was my only shot this year for paint. We rushed to get everything done and ended up with it prepped primed and painted. Even went with a 2 tone paint job to be a little fancy. Big thanks to my OCD helper and life long friend for taping the lines.

Throughout the next few months on warm days we replaced all the brake lines, hoses, calipers and pads. Got everything greased and all new tires on it and have her ready to be out towing. Didn't get as many pictures as I liked as everything was rushed or damn near dark. But one day I'll get it cleaned up and some better pictures of it.

While it's a cold rainy day and we're all stuck at home with our families enjoying this wonderful fever along with the feeling of being drained and completely exhausted i started going through some old pictures and figure I'd post some projects front the last year or 2.

First off is a 94 superduty I picked up for myself. Rough was an understatement when I started on this thing. But it had a solid frame and good running gear so it was a worthy truck for some love and attention.

We started off by removing the complete body, motor and trans. While it was down to the frame we decided to paint the frame and clean it up some. We was down this far so why just put an idi back into it? So we opted to put a powerstroke in it knowing we was going to change every wire and hose in the truck but hey it's all worth it right. So we swapped a power stroke in along with a low miles zf5 into it.

Next came body. Obs stuff is getting harder to come by but we secured a 98 percent rust free cab from a local u pull yard by luck. But it had blue interior and we all know I'm not building a truck with blue interior. So we stripped all the interior and swapped in Gray from another truck at the junk yard. The doors, hood, fenders and other misc body luckily I had saved from other trucks that I had parted out.

While multi color trucks will always hold a special place in my heart they are bad for business and even worse for dot. So with alot of sanding and some help picking a color from close friends and family we decided on a medium charcoal gray from summit racing and decided to get her one color. While the gray looked beautiful all the chrome and polished didn't suit it well. So my helper and life long friend decided to step up and prep all of it and paint it all black with some amazing bumper and grille paint available at local stores. The black and gray sits right and In my opinion looks how it should be.

This truck sits unfinished at the moment due to running out of time for my stuff and weather. But soon as we get some warmer weather we will have the bed prepped and painted and she will be towing everyday with a color matched century bed and wheel lift.

While we spent the better part of the day out cutting trees in our community for people in need I'll admit it feels so good to give back to the community. With inflation at its highest and the price of everything through the roof some people just couldn't afford to pay someone to clean up even if they wanted too. Today wasn't about the dollar or how much I could benefit. Today was truly a day to to give back to those in need, to give a little light on someones bad situation, to remind people that their are still good people in world. To everyone that let us cut on their property today thanks for the wood that will keep us warm over winter and thanks for the hospitality. To others who reached out to us that we haven't made it to yet we're gonna do our best to get to you in a timely manor.

With the roof back on and some of the mess picked up we will be starting to schedule appts. Scheduling help lessen your wait time and gets you back on the road faster. Walk ins are always welcome also.
