Dickson Area Robotics Team

Dickson Area Robotics Team DART (Dickson Area Robotics Team) was organized in the summer of 2008 for the purpose of competing in BEST Robotics. This program is student led.

Students involved in the BEST program are required to do all the work from initial ideas to the actual building of the robot. BEST stands for Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology. BEST, Inc is a non-profit organization the is focused on getting students in middle and high school interested and active in the fields of science and technology by getting them involved in it at a young age. The

team designs and builds a robot, but also has to consider all the business aspects. They have to give a Marketing Presentation, build a Marketing Exhibit, and make a Engineering Notebook. They are in charge of fundraising, public relations, programming, and Computer Aided Design - and all the activities to support these things. Spirit and Sportsmanship is also an aspect that is stressed. DART is for students in 7th-12th grade, but allows 5th and 6th graders with parental involvement and supervision and we welcome younger students as Junior members who have siblings on the team. Tuesday, the 21st, from 6:00 to 8:00 we have our second informational meeting. It will be at First Baptist but not in the same room where we met before. It will be in the youth building where the gym is. It is in room Y106. We'll try to have some people at the doors to point the way. If you want to bring your phone or laptop, I think some of the guys will help us get set up on Slack if you haven't already done that.

Wednesday, the 22nd, at 1:00 PM, we will have our field trip to the Technology Center in Dickson. It is across from Lowe's, and we are supposed to park in the front and then check in at the welcome desk. This event will not go beyond 2:30. Email Robin @ [email protected] to let her know you are coming so we can look for you.

Thursday, the 23rd, at 2:00 PM, we will canvas in the downtown Dickson area for fundraising. A student leader or mentor will send more information about this.

Saturday, the 25th, we will have the on-line reveal of the 2018 game at the Metcalf house. Email Robin if your are coming so we can have enough food for everyone. More details at the meeting 8/21.
