Tried for some lake trout on Nubanusit again. I've had ZERO luck fishing there - not that I know much about catching lakers without just trolling live bait or spoons around. I DID manage to get a nice morning without much wind. I also did manage to find a nice cove with some smallmouth top-water action for a while just after a mid-morning break, so I can finally say I caught fish at Nubanusit Lake.

So after yesterday's fishing trip catching a few 12 inch hatchery brookies from the river, I decided since I was going to be in the area, I'd stop by some much smaller water I was familiar with and try some tiny fishing. I definitely found it much more enjoyable on a river 1/4 the size, catching little fish. Plus the hatchery stocks there too made for nonstop fun. Nightcrawler head 1 1/4 inches on just a little hook, floated into the eddys and swirls was the ONLY thing I had that they were interested in.

A photo/video dump of my 1st 1/2 season ice fishing. With the big snow and cold, I am on hiatus for a bit. A sled and a bucket to sit on is my set-up. I'll let the guys with machines and stuff make it easier going(?) and let the weather warm up a bit again.

Had some quiet time this morning. I scooted down to Skatutakee for a bit. Nice morning. 3 decent pickerel, a couple smallmouth, a couple perch. Missed a taker on the pike rig. Should have given it more time to eat it.

I got some early ice fishing in before the warm weather. A beautiful day, about a dozen fish caught, an otter out on the shoreline, and a bald eagle swooping in for a pickerel offering off the ice. I hope to get back out again soon.
