CV Axles — Clicking, Popping & When It’s Time to Replace

That clicking or popping coming from your ATV or SxS isn’t something to ignore. Your CV axle may be telling you it’s getting ready to call it quits.

⚙️ Signs your CV axle needs attention:

Clicking or popping while turning
Clunking when accelerating or changing direction
Vibration under acceleration
Grease slung around the suspension from a torn CV boot
Excessive play in the CV joints
Binding or grinding from the axle

A torn boot doesn’t automatically mean the axle is junk. Catch it early enough—before dirt and water destroy the joint—and a boot replacement may save it. But once the joint is clicking, popping, binding, or has excessive play, replacement is usually the better move.

If you're running bigger tires, more lift, aggressive trails, or steep CV angles, you're putting even more stress on those axles.

Brake Pads — OEM or Amazon? 🤔

OEM pads cost $$$. Amazon has a complete set for the price of lunch. Same thing? Not always.
Cheap, unknown-brand pads may wear faster, handle heat poorly, or give inconsistent braking. That’s not something you want to discover halfway down a steep hill. 😬

That doesn’t mean OEM is your only option. Quality aftermarket pads from reputable brands can be an excellent choice.

🔧 SHOP TIP: Match your pads to how you ride, and inspect your rotors, calipers and brake fluid while you’re there.

Polaris Turf Mode: KEEP IT or DELETE IT?
Today we're talking about one of Polaris' more questionable ideas...

TURF MODE. 🗑️

Sure, Turf Mode sounds good on paper. Unlock the rear differential, make tighter turns, and keep from tearing up the yard.

But for a machine that's actually being worked hard or ridden hard on the trails? Turf Mode is just another failure point in the transmission.

💥 More internal components
💥 More things to break
💥 Hard trail riding puts additional stress on the drivetrain
💥 And when it fails, you're opening up the transmission anyway.

Around here, we're keeping it simple:

TURF MODE = TRASH. 🗑️
DELETE IT. LOCK IT. SEND IT. 🤘

Obviously, how you use your machine matters—but if you're building a Polaris for rocks, mud, hills, and abuse, a Turf Mode delete is definitely worth considering.

Wasn't as bad as it could have been. Had to order 8 bolts and another gear. if your rig still has turf mode I'd recommend deleting sooner rather than later. I never used it and it still broke.
