Over the weekend we managed to get the new front and mid turtle deck bulkheads formed out of aluminum. Also fabricated the canopy sil, hinges and tacked up a canopy frame.

Just couldn't help not throwing the bubble on the check for initial fitment.

Hopefully this week we can finish the canopy frame along with the latches.

Managed to get started on replacing some tubes that where cut to move the seat back when the 540 was installed. It's been a few year since I have found Bondo in a structure and this one came as a bit of a surprise. When the original seat back tube was cut they just filled it with Bondo and sanded it smooth. Thankfully the tube was removed and new installed. We also managed to fit up the replacement shorter gear.

A few weeks ago we moved the fuselage to the main shop and started disassembly to evaluate the condition and areas that needed repair from previous modifications that would no longer be needed. Early on we where able to be given a set of original blueprints from Dan Rhin that have turned out to be vary vary helpfull in connecting the dots. We have also received help from long time Superfli Pilot Steve Nelson providing all kinds of details.

This page has been created to follow the Restoration and rebuild of the Phil Kraft SuperFli. I had been chasing this aircraft for many years with thoughts of building a replica or purchasing the original and thanks to some Fackbook friends. I was able to aquired the remains from believe it or not a resale shop that was using it as yard art. Follow the progress and transformation from the Vortex to Superfli.
