Overview:
We are currently seeking Telecommunications Construction General Laborers for telecommunications construction crews in Darien, GA. Applicants must be prepared to perform manual Labor and not be afraid to get dirty. Experience is a plus, but willing to train the right person. Opportunity for growth.
Responsibilities:
• All phases of aerial/underground CATV construction
• Perform routine construction related activities such as carrying equipment, climbing ladders, using hand tools, manual digging, general clean up, etc.
• Hand dig using shovel
• Use of hand tools, ladders, and equipment
• Install and maintenance of aerial/underground telecommunications cabling (Fiber and Coax) while adhering to all applicable codes, regulations, and contractor specifications
• Dismantle, move, and remove cable associated equipment and hardware
• Repair and maintain major cable system and structures such as broken lashing, replacing or re-sagging aerial strand, pole transfers, aerial to underground conversion, repairs and cable replacements related to system outages, maintenance, rebuilds, emergencies, or hazards
• Perform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor such as digging holes, placing and removing poles and anchors, pulling cable from pole to pole, laying cable and conduit in the ground
• Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies
• Understand how to proficiently set up the job
• Completion of labor-intensive tasks as well as operation of construction equipment
• Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. May be required to work over-time; after hours; and weekends
• Frequent walking, standing, climbing, pushing/pulling, within the work area
• Must be able to lift/carry 25 – 50 lbs. consistently
Qualifications:
• Basic knowledge of and ability to use telecom construction equipment
• Basic knowledge of ability to use hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
• Must have valid driver’s license
• Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
