*So far, in all these years, I’ve NEVER had a car I worked on come back because the repair I performed and the customer paid for did not fix the issue, or the repair failed. Not many mechanics can brag about that, just saying…
*Before I do ANYTHING that will cost you money, I first get your approval.
*I would rather you talk freely about what it is you want fixed with your car and maybe use incorrect terms or say things that might sound silly. I do not judge a person for not knowing much about cars. Plus, every little detail you can give me is just another clue to find out what and where the issue is.
*If there’s any question that whatever we agree on repairing may not fix the issue, I tell you this upfront and explain why that is.
*I always explain what the issue is and why it is we are doing the repair, and I encourage people to ask as many questions as they can if they do not understand but want to.
*I do not explain things in complicated terminology. My other profession is as a certified Special Education teacher, and I have been in that role for over 8 years and still do it to this day, so I know how to explain complicated things in very simple terms that are very easy to understand, even if all you know about cars is that they need gasoline every once in a while.
*While the following education history may not directly pertain to auto repair, it certainly lets people know that I’m not just idiot off the street. I have earned the following degrees:
~Associates in Science from Pellissippi
~Bachelors in History from Carson-Newman
~Master’s of Education from Carson-Newman
~ Educational Specialist from LMU (it’s a doctorate without the expensive dissertation)
*I guarantee all my work, although I’ve not ever had to do it because I’ve never had a vehicle come back in because the repair didn’t work.
*Good repeat customers often get services for free, especially if it’s a simple fix that I just happened to catch during a repair or inspection (such as cleaning corrosion off battery terminals, filter installation during an oil changes, cleaning up an area when I don’t have to, inspecting components, etc… - it just depends on what it is, really).
*I do not charge anyone money if, for whatever reason, I can’t pinpoint the issue and perform a repair. It’s not often this happens, but when I do I don’t make you pay anything.
This is not an exhaustive list, and I will come back in the future to add things as I think of them.
Holler if you need anything,
