Exciting news for EV drivers in North Texas and the local community! ⚡️🚙

Construction is officially underway at Walmart Supercenter #2883 (8801 Ohio Dr, Plano), marking the kickoff for Round Two of Walmart’s own EV charging network expansion in the Dallas Metroplex!

This new charging hub isn't just about convenience; it's about assisting the local community by providing essential, reliable infrastructure for the growing number of electric vehicles. This investment supports cleaner air, reduces reliance on fossil fuels, and makes EV ownership more accessible for residents, visitors, and businesses in Plano and surrounding areas.

The site is setting a high standard for charging infrastructure with a unique setup featuring dual-fenced areas:

Fence 1: Houses the heavy-duty switchgear and transformer.

Fence 2: Protects the brand-new ultra-fast charging units.

We are moving fast—a key inspection is already scheduled for today, December 29, 2025! If all goes well, we are one step closer to 400 kW speeds and seamless charging right here in Plano.

Keep an eye out for those blue-and-white chargers next time you’re grabbing groceries. The future of the Metroplex is looking more electric every day! 🔌✨

Talked to some awesome Walmart store employees. how will Walmart be dealing with gas people icing the ev charging spots? Other than that it was a great experience. Can't blame Walmart for those people icing but its how they deal with it that can set Walmart apart from other stores. I think educate the shoppers as it is so new. Granted some people know what they are and do it anyway. The test is how Walmart will deal with those users

🎬 The Quiet Revolution: A Hollywood Story of Power and Change
The truth, whispered in the backlots and echoed in the halls of major studios, was that Hollywood had a dirty little secret: an entrenched, almost subconscious anti-EV stance. It wasn't always malice; sometimes, it was just the deafening roar of tradition.
For years, the glamour of the gasoline engine reigned supreme. A car chase needed the visceral vroom of an internal combustion engine, the smell of burning rubber, the undeniable muscle of a classic. Electric vehicles (EVs) were relegated to three roles:
• The Goofy Prop: A slow, impractical car for the eccentric or the punchline.
• The Sci-Fi Future: Sleek, silent, and entirely disconnected from the real-world street.
• The Unreliable Villain: In one controversial documentary and various online whispers, EVs were framed as a false promise, charged by dirty coal, a PR stunt for the wealthy elite.
The result? The average viewer, bombarded by images of heroic petrol-fueled Chargers and menacing muscle cars, unconsciously absorbed the message that EVs were either a joke or an unsexy inconvenience. A few EVs had begun to sneak in—a Tesla here, an electric Corvette there—but the narrative of the combustion engine still had the starring role. The industry's own sets, meanwhile, still relied on diesel-guzzling generators and combustion-engine production trucks, a cloud of exhaust clinging to the very idea of glamour.
⚡ The Megamerger that Rewrote the Script
Then came the seismic news: Paramount, backed by a new, sustainability-focused investment consortium, was in the final stages of acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD).
The $108.4 billion hostile bid wasn't just about streaming wars and intellectual property; it was about an ambitious, culture-shifting mandate from the top. The consortium, led by a fiercely environmental Silicon Valley billionaire named Anya Sharma, saw the newly unified media behemoth—"Para-Warner," as the trade papers quickly dubbed it—as the ultimate soft-power tool.
Sharma's vision for Para-Warner was simple: make sustainable living the new cool.
The EV agenda was the immediate, high-priority project. She installed a new "Chief Narrative Officer" whose sole purpose was to integrate electric and sustainable transportation into the studio's vast output, from blockbuster films to reality TV.
How Para-Warner Went Electric:
• The Blockbuster Swap: For the new Mission: Impossible film, the signature BMW was not a traditional gas guzzler, but the sleek, powerful electric i7, prominently featuring its silent speed in a Berlin chase scene. The dialogue didn't dwell on it—it was just the car the hero drove.
• The Production Mandate: A sweeping new company-wide policy required all new productions to utilize electric generator replacements and EV vehicles for crew transport and equipment haulage, wherever feasible. The old, smelly diesel generators were retired, replaced by massive battery arrays, making location shoots quieter and cleaner.
• The Reality TV Push: On a hit WBD home renovation show, the hosts began showing viewers how to install smart home chargers alongside solar panels. On a popular Paramount travel show, the hosts traveled cross-country only in a rugged electric pickup, normalizing the charging experience for millions of viewers.
• Product Placement with a Purpose: The old, transactional product placement deals were replaced with partnerships that focused on infrastructure. An EV manufacturer wasn't just paying to have a car in a movie; they were also funding charging stations installed at Para-Warner theme parks and studio tours.
🔋 The Cultural Tipping Point
The change was slow at first, subtle. But across dozens of films and hundreds of hours of television, the images added up: the new Batmobile had an all-electric roar, a high-tech synthesized sound that became the new symbol of power. On Ted Lasso’s next season, a major character casually charged her electric Mini Cooper while discussing life with her co-worker. EVs were no longer a niche, weird choice; they were simply the default choice of stylish, intelligent, and powerful characters.
The cultural narrative flipped. The silent, smooth acceleration of an EV became associated with sophistication and capability, not an eco-nerd's compromise. The on-screen charging moment transformed from a sign of "range anxiety" into a brief, meditative pause—a chance for characters to talk, strategize, or simply take a breath.
Within three years, the data was undeniable. Auto industry analysts coined it "The Para-Warner Effect." Following a major film release featuring a high-performance electric sports car, sales for that model—and the EV category as a whole—would see a statistically significant spike.
Anya Sharma had won more than a corporate merger; she had won the culture war of transportation. Hollywood, the great dream factory, had finally stopped selling the noise of the past and started selling the silence and speed of a cleaner future. The quiet whir of an electric motor was now the soundtrack to the American dream.

THE DETAILS:
For months, local EV drivers have watched this site sit dormant with equipment installed but no juice flowing. Today, the wait is effectively over.

Location:

Walmart Supercenter 2105 (LBJ Freeway & Midway Rd area)
Status Change: The Power Meter is officially installed, and there is power to the meter.

WHY THIS MATTERS:

"This is a game-changer for the LBJ corridor," says the founder of EV-Texans. "We've been tracking this site waiting for that meter to spin. Seeing power at the meter means we are days or weeks away from a new high-speed charging hub for the Scarlet Knight and all Dallas EV drivers."
