Today we worked on Allan Smith 1968 Chevy pickup. Brining that girl back to life. Took the doors and cab off so we can blast the frame and get all the small stuff done while the cab is off

For the past several months I have been chasing several gremlins with the 55. After replacing intake adding a new carb, the old 351w just was not running as I would expect. So I did a compression test and all was good there, so decided to turn to chat GPT for some help. Right out of the gate chat helped me figure out that the wires coming out of the distributor were crossed even though the plug only went one way. Keep in mind this is a msd ignition sustem, distributor, box and pickup coil. That helped but still running had. So I decided to set the timing and readjust the carb. So while working on the timing I bring number 1 up to TDC and could not find the timing mark with my light, so I added a big piece of red tape so I could see it and it turns out that the tape was about 3 inches from my timing marks. Once again I turn to chat GPT, feed in all I’ve done and it came back and said a common issue with my engine was the harmonic balancer. I took it off and it’s a wonder it had not come a part. Replaced with a new one and she is now running like new. Still need to reset timing and tune the carbs but running great now.
